A Chicago family's trip to Disney ended with a trip to the doctors office.
The Pecina family came to Orlando in late May. They had a great time at the parks, but started noticing red, itchy bumps all over their bodies after a night at the Disney All-Star resort.
WDW will not confirm the story, but in a statement the company said "The traveling bug" is an industry-wide concern.
The family has contracted a pest exterminator back home to make sure they did not bring any of these bugs home with them.
The Pecina's said a housekeeping manager looked at the bugs and the resort refunded them for one night of there stay.

Fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter what resort, where in the world, etc, this can happen. I realize Disney is mentioned in this "story" (granted without links to validate), but replace the name with Westin, Loews, etc, and no one would bat an eye.

Being a computer moron, I do not know how to post links. It was on the local Orlando news channel {online} And yes, it is happening at a lot of hotels, but this is a Disney site, therefore it is Disney news. If it was a Sheraton site, and the article was about the Sheraton, I would post that info as well.

Even if it was on a Sheraton site, it would get little attention...just for some reason everyone likes to put Disney on some massive pedestal, when they haven't been on any sort of pedestal (more often a ditch) in many, many years. Don't get my wrong, I love Disney, but its far from infalliable and rarely is a class leader outside of a few glimmers in their portfolio, and resorts is definately not one of those glimmers.

You got that right.:thumbsup2

Interesting. I hadn't heard anything about bed bugs in awhile. It was all over national news outlets and then nothing.

It's not the fact of Mitos posting it--that's ok.
It's The DISNEY hotel that made it "news".
As noted, had this been any other hotel, it wouldn't have attracted an iota of attention and wouldn't even had been mentioned on (or in) the "news".

Disboards threads , these last 9 months or so, that are designed only to incite the fellow reader into an "angry Mob" with tiki torches and pitchforks.
Why?? My best guess is because of the failing world economy.

Example: from bedbugs, to date rape drugs - these kind of threads I feel need to be closely monitored as they serve no purpose other than to "rile up" the general public into a feeding frenzy of anger and hurt feelings.

This person opts not to partake in this kind of negative behavior.

Therefore, one must be aware of some posters attempts to incite people into a negative reaction (thus satisfying their ego) when in actuality, one should place these kinds of threads in the periodical section where they properly belong -

The comics:rotfl: .

Moreover, alot of these threads are missing one element:

COMMON SENSE

It is COMMON SENSE to be aware of ones surroundings while out traveling, it it is common sense to know that not ALL hotel bedspreads are washed every time a guest checks out, it is common sense to know that budget cutbacks affect all of us, including the Disney company...

I don't know about that. There were some 5 star hotels that made news for bed bugs this past year. It was a huge issue nationally for awhile.

I think it's interesting. You know about opinions. Everyone has them. :)

Next will be a story that bedbugs carry Swine Flu virus. That would really get people in a tizzy.

As is stated before bed bugs can happen at any hotel. Since it is Disney it makes the news. If one is really terrified of that happening to them, best place for them is in there own home. That way it really decreases the chances of coming in contact with bed bugs. Although keep in mind all the other things that live in beds and pillows.

Hey, don't yawn at the messenger people, I just post Disney news that I find.. Guess you need to go to another thread if your bored........
