We're plannig a 7 day trip starting Nov 27th-sih 06 and driving from SW Ont. We have been once before in April 04 and stayed on site at the Polynesian. This trip was for business so was prearranged for us.

Any suggestions for getting the best deal from some WDW veterans?

Here's our plan so far ...

  • on-site resort (likely Contemporary or WL)
  • standard passes (park hopper likely not worth the extra with the ages of the kids ... 5, 3, 2 months)
  • considering meal plan but not sure
  • considering attending Christmas party but again not sure

We have a CAA membership and can access a Disney store if need be for the tickets

Should be book through a travel agent or ourselves on-line?
Package deal better or booking individual items separately?
Any promotions usually happen in November?
Weather comments?

Thanks for your help,

Amy

It all depends on whether you want to do this trip on a budget or not. If not use the travel agent. If you do I would suggest signing up for the Mousesavers newletter (mousesavers.com). She has lots of wonderful suggestions about saving on tickets etc. With children the age of yours I agree in not getting the park hopper. We never did when our kids were younger. Also I don't know if you would find the meal plan useful. Our kids weren't big eaters so we usually just split a meal between them. Sitting in a restaurant wasn't as much a priority as being on the rides so you can decide. There are wonderful tips on splitting meals at Disney for instance, you can order a double burger (2 patties) then order an extra bun (not on the menu but they will do it) and make two hamburgers out of one meal.

Good luck.

I would check out our CAA TA I got our trip, Nov 27-Dec 7 at POFQ with one day base ticket and dining plan for $2469 us for the four of us both kids under 10. This worked out to $300 less then what my regular TA quoted me (her quotes were bang on with Disney last year minus the CAA rate). You can check with Disney also but they offer CAA discount on room only. I just chose to book with CAA, 'cause I did not want to put a ton on the Visa We just put on the down payment and we are awaiting the income tax return for the remainder. I see that you are driving also...so would that have you leaving on the 26th ...FYI this is one of the busiest days of travel in the US, Sunday of the Thankgiving w/e. I did the same thing so I called Disney directly and booked us in at POP for one night earlier (whoohoo 11nights!!)! We went to MNSSHP party last year and it was a blast therefore MVMCP is a must for us. You could probably skip the hoppers. I have never stayed at WL or Contemporary...but onsite is awesome they have tons of perks :wizard: Take Care and have a great time planning! Kathy
