Okay, I know this has been asked a thousand times but.....we are going to DL for the FIRST time in August right before our DCL repo cruise. We are arriving in LAX on the 13th and staying at Hojos. On the 14th we plan to hit DL which is also my dear sons 13th birthday. Now, he is a little too cool for some things so I am not sure how to celebrate with him without totally embarrassing him. We are definitely going to get him a button at city hall and we were thinking of a character breakfast or dinner but have no idea which one. Any help would be appreciated. We will have one early entry to the parks but I think we prefer to use it on Saturday when the parks will be much more crowded so we will not be able to get into the park until after it opens. THANKS!!

I think Saturday is the best day for MM. We always get into DL first thing and when it gets too crowded, we'll head over to DCA. If you want a charcter meal for dinner, you have two choices- princesses or Goofy. IMHO I like Goffy's food better. We do both becuase DH likes Goofy's and DD loves princesses. If you're only there two days in the peak season, breakfast may cut into your peak park time. Unless you get a very early reservation (and I know teens don't like to get up early) I would shoot for dinner

We always have breakfast in the park with Minnie and friends. Its a good buffet and lots of characters walking around. Last time Capt Hook rummaged through my backpack! The kids thought that was so funny.

We took our kids for their 7th and 8th birthdays (born 12 months apart!) back in 2006. They got the buttons and the "happy birthday" phone calls at City Hall. Cast members made a point - all day long - to say "happy birthday" to them and gave them a bit more attention than usual. There wasn't anything *too* embarassing. ;)

Also, if visiting CA Adventure, make sure to stop by the Mission Tortilla Factory for a free bag of tortillas. (They give them to the person wearing the birthday button)

Yes free warm tortillas ROCK!!!!! Parade food, driving home food, plane food, get them home and make quesadillas food YUMMY!!!

I really like the plaza's birthday when you can decorate the mickeys cake. I think they still have it. I think it was about 10 person but that was a while back. I seen adults and kids celebrating. I had a great time and it was my 3 year olds birthday.

Thanks for al the responses............DH thinks we should just get him a birthday button and move on but I feel like 13 is a milestone and we should at least do something during the day to celebrate - at least have cake and candles?? Its just that when they are 13 they want you to make a big deal about their birthday but quietly so no one will notice - :rotfl:
