Hi all,

This is my first post here.

We are going to WDW in three weeks. We booked a spot at the BBD in Downtown Disney for our three year old's birthday. She is going to the Princess storybook dinner in Epcot the same evening.

Here's my question. She loves sleeping beauty, and I ordered her the sleeping beauty costume from disneyshopping.com..the link is below. It is the deluxe sleeping beauty costume.

(oops I can't post links I guess. If you go to disney shopping online it is the deluxe sleeping beauty costume..or you can just take away the added space in my link below when you paste it into your browser.)

Would I be better off using that dress at the boutique? Are the dresses there better quality? Poorer quality? Is it the same one offered there?

If I bring it, and I want to surprise her, can I ask the FGIT to give it to her? Who do I ask to do this when we first check in? Would it be possible to 'slip' it to someone secretely?

Or would I be better just buying one there? I think the one I bought is simply gorgeous, but I was just wondering if the ones at the BBD were nicer?

Thanks in advance!

I LOVE the dress you bought!!! In my opinion, the one you bought is MUCH nicer than the ones they sell at WDW. I bought my daughter the deluxe Belle dress at Disney Store in the fall. I took it with us on our trip and it was hands down nicer/better quality than the ones they were selling in the parks. Jasmine is her favorite princess at the moment, and when she saw Jasmine at MK, she had to have it, otherwise I would have just used the Belle dress.
I've heard/seen people that bring in their own dress and they will put it in the dressing room, just as they do if you bought it there. They still make it special/magical for them, no matter what! Maybe you could have it dropped off a few minutes before your DD arrives for her appointment so they can have it hanging up and ready for her in the dressing room and suprise her. Just explain to them at check in and I'm sure they will accommodate you in anyway!
Hope this helped you some...have a great time!

Thank you! I couldn't pass up the dress when I saw it..it was on sale for 49 and it was orginally 80!! I wasn't sure what the costumes were like in the actual boutique...I didn't want to spend more on a costume that might not have been as comfy.

She is beyond excited...I was thinking that I would just let her wear her sparkly tennis shoes and not buy any princess shoes that might be uncomfortable. I can't imgaine walking the parks all day in some of those shoes that go with the outfits!

Does a tiara come with the coach package? I don't think she needs her nails done. I'm sure she would just rip them off at the first available moment. I have a really pretty metal tiara with combs that match the dress..should I bring that too?

We have done BBB twice with our girls and always bring our own costumes from home. Our DD did the gold Sleeping Beauty costume on the last trip (don't know if it is the same as yours) and people were stopping us to ask where we got it (we got it from a wonderful lady here on Dis who was giving it away.) Definalty bring your own, it is no less special then getting it there. And we LOVED our dinner at Akerhaus (pasta not so good, but everything else wonderful!!!) Have a great time with your little princess...

You and your daughter are in for a great time! I loved everything about BBB! Nothing but wonderful memories! We've been back for a couple weeks and she wants to wear her Jasmine outfit and put on the BBB makeup everyday!
The little crown comes with all the packages. You could bring your own, just incase, but the crown they give you "fits" with the princess bun.
As for the shoes, you could definitely bring your own and I'm sure they will be more comfortable than what comes with the costumes there. My DD HAD to have the Jasmine shoes when she saw them in the park that matched the outfit. Her BBB appt. wasn't until later in the week, so I even went to the Wal-Mart just outside the resort to try and find some type of shoe that would match/be more comfortable, but couldn't find anything that matched or that looked comfortable...so we bought the Jasmine shoes in the park. Honestly, they looked like the most comfortable out of the princess shoes to chose from, but after she wore them 2 days in the park, they were literally falling apart...quality was very, very poor...and they were 16.50! My DD refused to take them off though. So if you find something with comfort and still cute, grab them! Saw a ton of little girls down there wearing Croc type shoes with them and that was very cute too and I'm sure comfortable as well!
As for the nails, my DD's were just polished and she got to take home 2 bottles with her. I did see some girls with the stick-on nails, but that was never mentioned to us, just polish...I prefered that anyway.
That is an awesome deal on that dress too!

Okay so I booked my two DD's for the castle package and now reading should I just buy a dress bring it wiht us and to the hair and make up package instead, I mean it would be way cheaper. HELP ???

It would be way cheaper, you need to do what is best for you. For us, we did the basic package with costumes from home. They didn't mind at all. I painted their nails before we went too, it was a fun experience and worth $50 each, but I could not justify $200+ each. Plus there is so much stuff they can buy, I bet they would love to have the extra money to build a crown, fill a jewel box or whatever...

Yes, it would be WAY cheaper! It's just a personal preference really. Don't get me wrong, the costumes in the park are nice, but you can definitely find nicer ones online and they are usually half the price. If and hopefully when we do BBB again, I'll more than likely bring a dress from home...and I won't be buying any of the "extra" things like the crowns (the ones that match the outfits) or "magic wands". I ended up carrying these around soon after my DD walked out of BBB. Whether you do the "basic" package or the "all out" package, it's really up to you...they are all treated the same way. Have fun and take TONS of pics!

I have my DD booked the morning of her Storybook Princess Lunch, I am so excited but I have booked the rock star one (same price) does anyone know if I can change my mind when we get there to the Princess look? I found a Belle dress at our local grocery store and it is adoreable and for only $20. I'm thinking the rock star look won't really fit the dress now....I am bringing my own dollar store crown.

My DD has short hair, how will they do it - anyone know?

When I first booked our appointment, I was just going to get the middle package, but changed my mind and went with the full package once down there...called them a few days before the actual appointment and they said it would be fine to switch. So just give them a call.
How short is DD's hair? My DD's is on the short side and she wanted to get the princess "bun" and they were able to get it all up thanks to tons of hairspray and gel. I was thrilled because I can't even get it all up in a pony myself. I guess it just depends on the FGMIT. Here are a few pics so you can judge.
In the dressing room...

As you can see, she was beyond excited!

That is an awesome deal on that dress too!

Let me clarify my post...the crown/tiara comes with all packages, BUT only the Fairy-tale Princess (the bun) style, and it also includes the Mickey-shaped hairpin. If you choose the Disney Diva, you get the extensions with 2 Mickey bobby-pin style clips. If you choose the Pop Princess, you get the multi-colored hair extensions plus Mickey clips (usually 4).

My DD's hair is shorter than your little girls hair...yes shorter. We had it cut in December when she donated 9.5 inches to Cancer patients needing wigs. All for a good cause but she misses her hair....and I guess she will for sure now?

Hmmmm, I guess the extensions is the way to go but the Diva package extensions sound great but I have a Belle dress for her.....I wonder if she will care? Dang it!

Can someone make me feel better?

What a great thing she did by donating her hair!
The Disney Diva is great for short hair. They will pull what they can back and then add the hair extensions around it.
You can always tell DD that this hair style looks more like Belle's too...and out of the 3 styles, the Diva is more fitting to Belle anyway! (IMO)
Hope you have a great time!

My daughters hair is super short too. (she was a cancer patient :)) She wants to do the Diva I think it is when we go down in Oct. What sold her on it was that it will give her long hair. On the way long BBB thread there are a lot of photo's with girls with that style and I think it looks fantastic with the Belle dress. It is much more Belle than the bun if you ask me.

My youngest wants the bun to look like Cinderella and my oldest will get the extentions to look like Belle. I do plan on purchasing an extra crown for her though so they both have them. Plus I like the look of the Diva with the little crown better than without.

Tell your daughter that what she did is FANTASTIC!! What a wonderful thing to do! I would just get her hyped up about how she will get to wear the extentions and have long hair for the day. Also, I read that a lot of girls put them back in over and over so it seems you get a lot of mileage out of them.

Oh, and we are planning on bringing our dresses from home. I saw a recommendation on here for http://www.littledressupshop.com I ordered the Cinderella with matching doll dress and the Belle with matching doll dress for their birthdays. I am very pleased with them! They are very thin and soft on the inside. No rough seems at all. I can see these being way more comfortable in the heat than the dresses they have from the Disney store and the World. If you want that pouffy look you can add a fullness slip.

From what we saw the dresses are the same as from the store/online. They use the Deluxe version of the dresses when you purchase the Castle Package.

For my DD (4y) first trip to WDW we went with the Castle Package. Keep in mind that the Castle package comes with a photo shoot as well as the dress, shoes, wand, "toy" tiara, metal tiara, hair pin, left over nail polish, left over makeup, in addition to just painting her nails, hair styling, glitter, gems on the face, etc.

The photo's came out really well. I would upload one but I am at work.

To PP wondering about short hair. My girls grow their hair with the purpose of donating it. My oldest is preparing for her 5th donation next month, my middle did it for the 3rd time in November (at MK barber shop) and my baby and I have both done it once (she's young, catching up to her sisters, mine takes forever to grow!) My Middle as I said did it in the MK at the barber shop on the first day of our last trip and 3 days later went to BBB and they were fine to get hers up for her style. No worries...

We can relate to missing the hair, but if she doesn't yet in time she will be very proud of herself. My girls are known for their hair, or more so what they have done with their hair and they keep doing it even though they miss it when it is first cut. My oldest will be cutting next month at the 3rd annual haircutting event she originally organized when she was 11. She has collected more that 2000 inches of hair in the previous 2 events and has given almost 5 feet of her own hair so far.

YEAH!!!!! For your DD, I love to hear these stories.
