From what I have read, we should be brining blankets, pillows and snacks to the train and then we can walk around.
Therefore, I assume we do not take the snacks or blankets with us when we walk around, is it safe to leave them on the seat or even in the rooms?
Will we have designated coach seats on the train ?

thanks

I wouldn't leave valuables, like an Ipod or camera, just laying around on the seats, but a blanket or bag of Doritos is pretty safe. You are all on the same train going the same place with no intermediatre stops, so its not like someone can just run off with your posessions. Really, I'd just put things away in their bags or whatever when I'm away from the seats or Roomette/Bedroom.

Seats are generally assigned by the car attendant; Sleeper room assignments are specifically reserved in advance.

thanks. It helps.
I was concerned that people may just move the blankets or pillows away to take the seats.

Seats are assigned, and your ticket issued at the station will indicate your seat numbers. We felt safe leaving our belongings there, although I brought my purse with me whenever we walked away. The kids left their video games and such in their bookbags and no one touched them.
