Another Autograph book question

I am obsessing.....and indecisive.... This is our first trip to WDW. 2 kids: DD7, DS4. I think I have realized that I will need two autograph book while we are there for signing. But I cannot decide how I want to make the autograph book. Originally I wanted to do a 6x6 or 8x8 album with pictures of the characters/kids, autographs, embellishments, patterned papers themed to characters, etc......which would be a lot of work (especially now that I realize I will have to make one for each child). Do I scale down and just add pictures to the autograph books that they buy in the park ...maybe some paper and/or embellishments as well? OR, I have seen book that used regular 4x6 albums....preprinted with pictures of the characters on the autograph paper, so the character would sign next to his/her picture (then add a photo on the opposite page after the trip). So could you guys tell me what you have done..... what makes the best book?? TIA!

I wish I could help you but we just buy the blue $6.00 autograph books each time we go. The kids use those.

Our last trip, I decided that since I was always going to be standing in line with the kids, I may as well get autographs too. So I got a book too.

This was for 2 reasons: 1) if anything happened to one of my kid's books during our trip, I'd have that extra book for them.

2) I got a book with spiral pages so that I could tear them out. Then when we got home, I could use some in a shadowbox, scrapbook, etc.

I'm sure someone on here will have some ideas for you.

We found a book we liked at Walmart - it's a princess memo pad, but fancy. It has some pages with characters pre-printed, but most are blank, but colored paper. Then we used stickers or clipart for the other characters.

Didn't take too much time, but it's different enough to get great reactions from the characters.

I bought DD (5) the Creative Memories little 8x8 red book with the black mickey head on the cover. It worked awesome!!! I am sure you could find something similar at Meijer or Walmart for less (it was $20) She had them sign every other page, we put the photo with her on the corrisponding page. Some photos I put in were them signing her book.

So we put this pic of Donald and her on the page across from his signature, he did flip the page for her as you can see it says JOJO. That way her and my books were a bid different.

I did an autograph book like that for my boys. I printed off on cardstock the character picture name and then added my boys names. One of the very talented ladies on the creative boards has a link sharing these great autograph pages she made. So i used those and added the boys names and glued them into a 6x8 scrapbook and decorated the front with Disney stickers and their names. The characters loved them!! Capt. Hook & Mr. Smee loved it, Mr. Smee ran all around showing passers by and also ran across to show Peter Pan. Then Peter Pan yelled out "Hey Smee" and held up the book with his page. Wendy personalized here message with the boys names (since they were right on the page). Also Buzz Lightyear loved it and got really excited it was a great experience. Here is the link:

I just bought the blue autograph book that is available at WDW for 6 or 6.95. Lots of pages to use. Alot of the pages did get bent by the characters -trying to keep the book open. DS got alot of the autographs twice so I plan on tearing the duplicate page out to scrapbook it. My 6 and 4 yo's really enjoyed getting and seeing the autographs.
Note: I've seen so many people just grab a scrap piece of paper out of their purse. I don't get that at all. Even a cheap pad of paper is only a dollar.

Here's what I did.....

I went to an office store and just told them I wanted something comb ring bound (preferred spiral, but they only had comb) w/ about 20 4x6 white cardstock and cover/back pages a little heavier than the inside pages. The cover was pink. I bought some cool stickers and on the plane ride there, DD got to "decorate" her autograph book.

I knew I was going to be removing pages for our scrapbook so that's why I didn't feel the need to do anything more permanent. So now I can just pull out the pages, trim them down to size, and put them in the scrapbook on the page w/ that character - it has worked out great so far! I think I spent 10-12 to have the book made.

I bought 12x12 colored (acid/lignin-free) cardstock and cut it into 4x6s. I bought mini-clipboards for presenting them for autographing, and once we're home I'll put them into the CM 8x8 Mickey album for each boy, along with photos of them with the characters.

Not the prettiest presentation to the character, but I didn't want to buy two more books I'd just tear apart, and wanted to make sure the paper was photo-safe, so that was my best idea.

There was one in the resort store for $10 that had a sleeve for a picture on one side and a page for the autograph on the opposite side. Then you could take a pic of the child with the character and put it there beside the autograph.

For my trip celebrating my DD's 7th birthday at the end of May I am making her autograph "cards". I purchased blank 4 x 6 index cards at Staples. I printed those on my ink jet printer with "Happy 7th Birthday Lizzy" on the top (in Disney font of corse) and "Walt Disney World May 2006" on the bottom. On the right side of the card I put a small coloring book image (got the idea here) and the character can sign on the left side of the card.

Then I got a Pooh photo album at Walmart that holds 2 photos per page so I'll put the autograph card in one slot and a photo of her with the character in the other. I've just got to remember to take photos of her horizontal-I tend to take my character photos vertical to get the whole height of the character in.

I also purchased a small clipboard at Walmart for under $1. I plan to also ask the characters to sign the clipboard. I will keep the cards in 2 seperate zip lock bags-signed and unsigned. I think I'll sort by movie and use little tabs to speed finding the right card when we see someone.

For my first 5 trips I just used regular autograph books-from the parks or cheaper ones from Orlando area grocery stores. Those are fine too. On our last trip we had just 1 book for all 3 kids to share. I'm looking forward to our "new" adventure with autographs.
