Another Atkins Question (probably not my last)

I have been reading some journals of people doing Atkins and it seems like they are not eating much at all! I haven't started induction yet, but one of the things that drew me to Atkins was not really watching how much I ate. At least being able to eat whenever I'm hungry.

Is this low amout of food due to the fact that you aren't hungry or are most of you purposefully eating less (like on a regular diet)?

I am just truly NOT HUNGRY! That is one of the wonderful side effects of the way of eating. Today it was almost 11am and I heard my tummy rumble --- that was when I realized I hadn't eaten yet today -- so I grabbed brunch. I will likely only eat a small dinner later today and that will be it!

I look at my journal and realize that I use to eat in one sitting what I am now eating in an entire day [and I thought that wasn't much at the time].

It took awhile for me to get to that point though. The first couple weeks I was eating a protein or low carb veggie source [or both] every 2 hours or MORE! Then all of a sudden the hunger went away.

Now when I feel like grabbing something to eat -- I first drink a diet soda and/or a glass of water and then if I still feel like a nibble I will go ahead and eat. Most of the time I think it was just my body being thirsty and that is all I need.:D

I've been doing Atkins for 3 months now, and, yes, after about a week or so, your hunger will probably subside a lot; it's a side benefit of going into ketosis/lipolysis.

Yep...its hard for me to believe. I have been on Atkins I am starting my 3rd week...and I sometimes have to force myself to eat something. It is incredible how your appetiate and your cravings just disappear and you don't even realize it!!

Good Luck!!

I am truly not hungry on Atkins!! I was amazed myself at how much I don't eat now!! I agree with Tracy, that sometimes I also have to force myself to eat!

I absolutely love this new way of eating now!! :):)

I ate every piece of bacon, sausage, ham, chicken, shrimp, lobster tail and pork chop that I could get my hands on the first 4 days I was on Atkins.

Once I went into ketosis my appetite went away and I have to force myself to eat. I just forget.

I can't eat as much either as I could eat when I wasn't controlling my carbohydrate intake. Apparently the full fat dressing on my salad and 1/2 of my filet mignon is way more than enough. I get that full feeling and since I'm not hungry I just don't keep eating.

It's kind of a miracle, really. I have never before been on an eating plan where I wasn't hungry. When I was on WW I was constantly thinking about what I was going to eat next whether it was a snack or my next meal.

On Atkins I don't do that. So, I've found the plan for me. WW is a wonderful eating plan it just isn't the one for me. I just wish I had tried Atkins 30 years ago. I would never have gotten so fat. I have no one to blame but myself. That is just so aggravating.
