Another AP renewal question

Sorry for questions that might be obvious for some.

I swear in the past (before I ever thought of having an AP so I didn't pay much attention, my bad) I kind of skimmed over threads about people renewing their AP's after their renewal date. Can you do that, and if so, how long past your renewal date can it be?

Also, If my renewal is beginning of Sept can I use the same card and renew is when I come back June of 2013?

Hope that all makes sense.

The only reason to renew a pass after the renewal date is to get the $20 discount. Your AP anniversary won't change when you renew. This makes sense to do if you are going to the parks near your anniversary date. If you aren't going for a while, wait and buy a new AP instead of renewing. The cheapest AP costs just over $20 a month so if not there within a month of the anniversary to get the $20 discount you are saving money.
