Another annual pass upgrade question

I am going to be buying passes at AAA today and upgrading when I get down to Disney. Having trouble trying to figure out which one to buy in order to get the best deal when I upgrade. I'm thinking I should purchase the one that gives me the biggest savings, which would be 2 ten day hoppers for $504, with a savings of $65.34 each.

Does this make sense, or is there another way to calculate the best deal? Thanks!

I could be wrong but I thought they took the price of your current ticket and you had to pay the difference to the AP. If the AP is $779 and 10 day tkt is $515 (Disney price) you will pay $264. Make sure the ticket can be upgraded before you buy it. My brother in-law works bought a 5 day park hop ticket where he works for DOD and at the park we tried to add a 6th day but were told it was a special ticket and we couldn't do it.

1. Yes.
2. Two? Do you mean you want to upgrade each ticket to an AP? (So you want two new APs?)
3. Click on the blue link in my signature and then click the "Upgraging Tickets" link.

You would get more savings if you buy from undercover tourist then upgrade. I saved $60 a ticket. Also make sure you are getting ticket stock newer than I believe February 12 or 17th 2017 or you will not save as Disney will not give current bridge price for ticket stock previous to that date.

Yes, two new annual passes for DH and me. We did have hoppers with our free dining that was supposed to start tomorrow, but we cancelled that portion of the trip. Now coming in with DVC rental next week, hopefully. Thought if I bought the passes now I could attach to MDE and try to get some fast passes.

Another question...Disney will have no way to know that I have a discounted pass from AAA, they will just upgrade and adjust based on their price, correct? There would be no reason I couldn't upgrade that ticket, right?

Thanks again!

Disney does know that the ticket you have was bought from AAA and how much they sold the ticket to AAA for. What they can't see is what AAA sold the ticket to you for.
This is why there are so many issues related to upgrading tickets

I don't think that is true. If the ticket is used one day then you upgrade they will use the current ticket price and you pay the balance between that and the AP price regardless of what you purchased the ticket at. Even if it was purchased years ago.

This is incorrect. Robo covers it all in his Ticket Sticky.

No need to be snippy about it! I was going by the information I had.... I did say "I don't think that is true" Boy these boards are really getting unpleasant!

Please tell me how it was "snippy" to say this is incorrect? Seriously? It is incorrect. I'm not sure how that is "snippy". And Robo does cover it all in his Ticket Sticky. I didn't want to PP to think that it would be what happened.
