First some background: We will be a party of either 6 or 7. 3 older adults, 2 twenty-somethings, an 18 yr old, and a 13 yr old. Me, my sister, her husband, their 3 kids, and one of the kid's friends. The boys will be paying for their own portion of the room, wherever we end up. I should add they won't be there until the 4th day of the trip.

Right now we have 2 water-view rooms booked at CSR. With discount they total $2436.62 for 7 nights. Me being me, I can't resist seeing if I can find a better deal.;) And finding all sorts of options. So I'm wondering what you all think of the options I have come up with. Please share your thoughts!

Unless we had separate cars I personally wouldn't want to stay offsite with a larger group as it's inevitable that not everyone is going to want to do everything together the entire trip and my experience with offsite shuttles was never good.

CSR doesn't particularly appeal to me, but if that's the resort you like I'd vote to just stay there the entire 7 nights.

Stayin Disney is the way to go... Have you also checked POR and CBR if you want a moderate. also the new AoA have family suites..:scratchin

If at all possible, stay on-site!!

I whole-heartily agree!

I would definitely stay on-site. Depending on when you are going, have you considered renting points for a couple of villas or the grand villa? Sounds like you need a lot of beds!

Oooo, $1000 difference...maybe less when you factor in parking and gas, but that savings will buy a lot of Mickey Bars!

However, I still think I'd stay onsite for the transportation issues already pointed out. People can come and go. If someone needs a break, it's easy enough to take one. If three want to stay late, it's easy to do, no stress.

If I wanted to save some money off the CSR price, I'd look in to a different room and/or resort. I know a waterview is nice, but if you're willing to have a city view at Staybridge, maybe a GV or Standard on site is okay too?

GL!

I voted other because I think you should stay onsite, especially with older kids because you will be able to seperate, BUT, I dislike CSR so I'd pick another moderate ( or even a value resort)

would price OKW - 2 studios - going with a broker or DVC members - you will definitely need the 2 queen beds in each unit.

plus if you go with renting a reservation thru a DVC member (or broker) you don't have to pay extra - for the extra adults

only 2 adults in each room is WDW policy. any more you have to pay. Adullts are anyone 18 or older.

okw has a balcony in each room - that say would not go with a 2-bedroom villa - since the boys will only arrive later.

2 studios will be cheaper than the 2-bedroom villa.

why I love BLT - it is my favorite - the studios are tiny and your prices are not high enough for a 2-bedroom villa.

BLT studio are too small for 4 adults.

I think you should go with POR or POFQ, that way some can take the boat to DTD....

I would go with the option that gives you the best sleeping arrangements and privacy. You are traveling with 6 adults and a 13 year old. Normally I would always say onsite, but in this case I would rather have room. Staybridge suites are nice, but have you considered Bonnet Creek.

I agree with the transportation issues. When you have one vehicle, and lots of people, someone will want to go back to the hotel before everyone else, and they may not feel like coming back to pick up the rest of you.

How much time do you think you will spend in the room? You may want to consider a value resort instead of a moderate to help with the budget.

There will always be cheaper options off site. You just have to weigh any additional expenses, like shuttles, taxis or car rentals (and parking), against the savings and see which one would work best for you.

I actually just e-mailed my sister the prices for a family suite plus one room at ASMu. That would also save us a bunch.

I completely agree with fla4fun. Some off site hotels have free shuttles but others do not and you pay per person, per day. That adds up each day and you are also at the mercy of the shuttle schedule for that hotel. If you do not spend alot of time in the rooms I agree with a lesser view or a value. You can also find people renting out DVC points which, depending on accomodation, can save you $$ as well.

Good luck and have a great trip!!

I agree about staying on site. I definitely would. As others have mentioned...I would really look into renting points to stay at one of the DVC resorts. It may end up being a whole lot cheaper than you think.

I voted 7 nights at CSR...because I too agree it's worth it to stay onsite.

But... if you want to save money maybe a value resort?? Although we usually stay moderate I have stayed value and am not against doing it again. With 6 or 7, none being real young children I would think it would be plenty of space.

Unless you are spending a lot of time at the resort, then maybe stay with moderate. But if you think you will be at the parks most of the time go with a value and save some money. Just a thought :)

That would be my thought as well. You could get the addtl room for when the 2 boys arrive...saving a bit that way as well. Or, possibly, just get three rooms....two for the larger group, get the third when the boys arrive.
