Another Airtran Question

If we don't pay to reserve seats when we make our reservations on airtran, what happens? I know we might not be able to sit altogether, but that isn't an issue. Could we get bumped off the flight?

It's unlikely you'll get bumped, but if the plane is oversold and they can't get enough volunteers, than people without seat assignments would be the first to get bumped (all other things being equal)
That said, even if you don't pay for seats, if you check in 24 hours in advance, you should still be fine getting seat assignments online at that point - they might not all be together, but if that's OK with you, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Thank You, I think I will probably go ahead and pay for the seats when I book, but thought maybe if they over sold we would be the first to be bumped. With my family luck, I am trying to think of everything that could go wrong and try to fix it before it happens so I can have an enjoyable trip this time.

I would definitely prepay for seats. I purchased 3 seats together for myself and daughters, but figured it did not matter where my DH sat. Well the flight was overbooked and those without seat assignments were the first to be bumped. So I flew home with the kids and my DH arrived home the next day. Not a fun situation.

Thanks, that would be my luck, I am also shipping a box down and taking only carry on luggage. Our family luck is not really good so I am trying to think of everything I can possibly do to avoid "Not fun situations"
