Hi sorry to have to ask yet another question about strollers as wheelchairs, but I did not see the answer I needed in the sticky at the top of the page. My DD6 has Epilepsy and things like heat and being over tired etc bring on her seizures. She also has low stamina due to this. We tend to take it easy at the parks and follow her cue etc and return to our room when needed. We will be bringing a stroller as well, but it will be a double since we also have a 15 mos old DS. We are going to request a GAC and I wanted to ask that the stroller be treated as a wheelchair when possible. I wasn't sure it that would be ok to do though since it will be a double. Anyone have any idea?

I was also wondering if Disney would allow us to bring a soft sided cooler with water/gatorade type drinks in it into the parks. We have to keep her hydrated at all times hence the need for the cooler. It would be small enough to fit in the basket below the stroller.

Thanks for any help! You are all wonderful and any further advice you can give would be much appreciated.

Stroller as wheelchair is both a stamp on a GAC as well as an obvious tag that can be put on a stroller. I do not know of any restriction that says that only a single may be used. Obviously if there is need for it for the older child there should be no problem for the younger to come along.

There is no problem with a small soft-sided cooler. Just make sure that anything in it is in plastic and not glass. Also you can get free ice at any beverage location on request.

Thanks so much! I really need the double as my dh plays golf a few mornings and I am by myself with the kids in the park. So this is great news. I will definitely make sure we have plastic and not glass in the cooler thanks for the tip!

I have seen people with double strollers (either their own or a rental stroller) using the stroller as a wheelchair. As long as your stroller is no wider than 36 inches, it should fit in lines.

Thank you Sue! I will make sure to measure. Another great tip!
A "Standard wheelchair" is defined as no wider than 30 inches an no longer than 48 inches. Doorways by the ADA standards have to be at least 32 inches wide, but most doorways, paths and queues at WDW are at least 36 inches.

Thanks, I'll have to measure mine tomorrow. Can't get to it right now but it is a side by side not tandem. I think it is only 32" across at the widest point though. It goes thru all standard doors no problem. So it should be fine. Now I'm just trying to find a better soft sided cooler. Ours would weigh too much to go into the basket on the bottom (once the drinks and ice are added). Any suggestions?

Hi;
We use a side by side double in the parks (or did, this trip DD is too big, so we're trying a new strategy) and have never had a problem in the queues. (They put a red luggage label looking thing on it and stamp the GAC) Have a great trip!
Nicole

Thanks for the info Nicole. My friend and I were talking this morning and I am going to borrow her Graco tandem. It's one of the new styles and I know it will fit no problem. Plus the sunshades are bigger and it has more storage ability than my peg. She actually asked me if I wanted to swap with her as she is going on vacation in a few weeks and needs a smaller stroller since they are driving. They will only be doing mall trips etc so the swap worked out great for us. We will exchange them this week an then exchange them back after we return from Disney. Things are coming along nicely!
