Hi - We are debating on joining AAA for the discount and one of the deciding factors is if we can pay a deposit and then pay the trip off over a few months like you can with the WDW travel company. We are probably going to buy a package (hotel, tickets, & dining) so I know we'll have to book through AAA. Thanks in advance for your help!! Cindy :goodvibes

Just need a deposit, the balance is due 45 days prior to your departure.

The deposit is a $200 on the land, the cost of the insurance($59.90/adult children are included), and the cost of the air is the air is published air.

Once you've paid the deposit, you can pay as much or as little up until final payment as you'd like.

Hope that helps!

Thanks that helps alot! That sounds the same as booking with disney travel - so that will be great for us!

In a sense, all aaa does is makes the call to disney for you. If you look at your credit card bill, the payment for the disney part of the package (I dont know about the air) comes up as too disney travel company, not to aaa. So it is the exact same package. They do sometimes add on booking and/or mailing fees as well as there own cancelation policy on top of Disney's. Some aaa offices dont charge the booking/mailing if yours does, come and ask here and someone will email you a name of someone who doesn't. You do not have to use your local agent.

Thanks for the information and the heads-up on the extra fee. That's why I love the DIS! :cool1:

If you have need to make any changes or update your reservation then you are required to do that through AAA. Disney can't help you because AAA made the reservations for you. So if it is a Friday night you may have to wait until Monday if your AAA office is closed.

Call Disney and have them explain it to you. I decided not to book through AAA. They also have hidden fees.

I really wanted a package that included the meals, but after going back and forth. Here is what I found.

May 27-June 2

Going AP route
Poly GV AP rate 1917 w/taxes
AP 461
1 adult 2 children 7 day hopper 700 w/taxes

AAA rate
MYW w/meals & hopper for (7days pass 6 day food)
Poly GV
39XX

Wasn't sure if going the AAA route would even save me money.

AAA was a great deal for us. I don't book any travel through them, but use the AAA discount when I book through Disney. I have AP's so I try for those discounts, but when there aren't any, I can still get about 15% off the room rates at Disney with AAA discount. And since I book through Disney, the same rules of the ressie apply even with the discount. In addition, the AAA discount works at just about every hotel chain in the country. This year alone, my $74 membership (Me & DW) has saved me about $500 in hotel stays alone, not to mention the peace of mind while traveling if something on the car goes wrong.

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can book a room with the AAA discount through Disney and add on tickets and the dining plan. Thanks!

there are two ways to book disney vacations. You can either book a room. Or you can book a package. A package is a room combined with tickets purchased together as a package (+ dining if you want it). To get dining you must have a package. You can not book a room then add tickets and dining. (you can however book a room then order tickets but that doesn't make it a package. these tickets would be a separate purchase.) When people say you that they have, what has really happened is the room reservation has been canclled and a package has been booked.

As for aaa, what they do is book you a disney vacation...so you get what disney has to offer with a discount if it is available. If you want a room you have the option of booking it with aaa or with disney, then you can get your tickets wherever you want. However if you want a package (the only way to get dining) you must book through aaa.

Booking a room only no matter who or where or how it is booked with will not be something you can add on to. Therefore if you know you want dining you know you want a package so you need to just start by calling aaa. Otherwise your room only is just going to have to be cancelled and rebook as a package, meaning your first deposit is refunded and you make a new deposit. And since there is an allotment of aaa discounted rooms as room only and an allotment of aaa discounted rooms for packages as well as the above, securing a room only aaa discounted room in no way helps your chances of having a aaa discounted package.

Thanks for your help! I am still hoping for some sort of Disney discount for mid-August although we are still going regardless.

If you book through aaa you guarantee your ability to get your aaa discount, then if another better disney discount comes out they can change your reservation to reflect that...of course you still have the room only/package issues...meaning if you book a package with aaa they couldnt change that to reflecrt a room only discount. Same thing for disney if you book a aaa discounted room only through disney you can change it to reflect new room only offers. THis is all of course assuming availability of the new discount.

You could call aaa and discus it with them what they are willing to do. A good rep will be willing to make future changes. What I'm more talking about is to find out what you are in for if you cancel your prebooked package through them because you want some new disney room only offer. That offer should still be able to be booked through aaa, but a non helpful aaa rep (been there done that) will tell you they can't. Several of us here have aaa reps that are great - we all share them lol.

We had a not so great AAA rep the one time that we booked through them so I kinda worry about that happening again. It was in 2001 so it has been a while. We have booked through Disney travel every year since then.
