Another 9/4 Voucher Question

Just trying to understand. When DCL told our TA we would be given a 25% off voucher towards another cruise our TA e-mailed the info to me. Nothing was said about not being able to use during peak or holiday times. I asked to use on 5/28/05 and was told no because while 5/28 is regulsr season there is a holiday the following week so this now is a holiday cruise. My question is was something written anywhere that said this voucher could not be used during peak or holiday season when they were telling us to still cruise?

My understanding is that those restrictions are written on the voucher itself.

I for one think at least most of the people on our 9/4/04 re-scheduled cruise were not in the least aware of such a restriction. Especially since the September 10, 2004 Navigator clearly documented that they would not re-book onboard since the 25% off voucher was the best deal we could get.

Since we could not book onboard the 25% voucher is really only 15% more discount but is more restricted. Does anyone have the 9/10 navigator they could send me a copy of? I would like to follow up on this.

Furthermore, it would appear that the 9/4 cruise under the definitions APPARENTLY being used by DCL would have been a holiday cruise! Seems like we should be able to book a holiday cruise since we were cancelled off one! :)

Has anyone called DCL to see if they would still honor the 10% off and $200 onboard credit for those of us on these cruises cut short (since the voucher is coming with restrictions for sail dates that we wanted to book)?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to see if they would still honor that onboard booking because of the confusion over the vouchers.

I'm just waiting for my voucher to get to me. My TA is supposed to fax it when received. I'm doubtful they'll get mine soon.

I have the 9/10 Navigator and would be glad to send anyone a copy of it. Here is what it says on page 2:

"Information Regarding Future Bookings
To take advantage of Disney Cruise Line's wonderful offer of 25% off your next cruise, we recommend waiting until you return home to book. Once you have received your voucher at home, please call our toll free dedicated Castaway Club line 1-800-449-3380. This offer far exceeds any previous onboard offers (which are non-combinable) Therefore no cruises will be sold onboard this cruise.
Thank You and Have a Magical Cruise!"

Is anyone aware of restrictions for the 10%/$200 obc onboard booking prior to or immediately following our cruise? I have read where persons booked for after October 1, 2005 on the cruise right after ours with the usual onboard booking offer.

Sounds clear to me. The 25% voucher should be able to be used for any booking that they would have, and should have, offered onboard. Their own word clearly shows they believed that to be the case themselves. If they were misinformed, then we were badly misinformed.

Because I'd have to write them to just get them to consider the usual onboard offer in this matter, I feel they should just honor the 25% off voucher. They created the confusion with their own words in print.

I could be wrong and they did not make any onboard offers for after October 1, 2005 or for any of the other restrictions on that voucher. But, I doubt that.

I had even filled in a request card for Donna while on the 9/4/04 cruise asking for quotes for October 2005. I received a voicemail form her while onboard saying basically what it says in the Navigator. Now, I'm finding out we cannot use the 25% off after October 2005.

Let me say I'm disappointed in DCL. This is the exact kind of administrative and communication problems that plagued me on that cruise.

I will write to them when I get my voucher about this.

I would suggest writing/e-mailing now if you want. I am sure that if they make an exception and offer the 10%/$200 they will want you booked now and would be more willing to make the exception now....instead of booking later into Nov or Dec of this year.

I'm not sure how I could write DCL now as I do not have a voucher. I only know from second hand sources what it says. I do not think it would be fair to DCL to cite second hand sources and neither would it make my issue look legitimate. If they take 1, 2 or 3 months to send my voucher then shame on them, not me. I'm in contact with my TA, the one that will receive the voucher, about their receipt of this voucher

Also, I understand from my TA that DCL is 3-weeks behind in reading correspondence. Seems they have a larger than normal volume to read through. So, not so sure how much it matters when I write.

To me, what they put in the Navigator makes it very clear to anyone what they meant. Should anyone disagree, then I'd like to see their interpretation. I'm not asking for an exception, just for them to stand by their words. Their offer of 25% was nice, but when mixed with them not re-booking onboard, what it clearly says in the 9/10/04 Navigator, and what this voucher restrictions are - it turns out to be less of a thing than they'd offer on normal cruises.

I highly doubt DCL will do anything. From what I've been seeing in the replies they've given to others, they have taken a stand to do nothing about it. Which is fine.

I'd just forward my documents and complaints to the State of Florida Attorney Generals office, or whatever offices handles that there. For their record. And, never deal with DCL again.

i am upset because there really is no good time to use this voucher. it really stinks. i think we are going to have a family cruise on royal carribean. My fil in law has planned a 7 night western caribbean cruise cat 4 with an open window cat for 750 aperson. knowing there is much more to do on a RCL cruise, we cant refuse this offer. I have loved my disney cruises but they have been my dh's first cruises and i know he will be very impressed with RCL

Well, I did get our voucher faxed today and just send DCL a leter pointing out to them, what to me, appears a contradiction.

I had asked for October 2005 re-booking quotes the first night of the cruise. Two days later voicemail from Donna advised me of basically the same thing that appeared in the 9/10/04 Navigator.

The have two choices:
1. Give me my October 2005 booking I asked for with what should have been the prevailing onboard re-booking offer.
2. Or, give me my October 2005 booking with the 25% off.

I also asked them a few questions I'd like the ansewrs to. Letter was short, sweet, to the point. We'll see how they creatively say NO. lol
