Me (38) Many, many trips to WDW since 1972 and love it more each time!
DH (39) Plays along with my obsession
DD (8) 3rd trip and learning to love it as much as me!
I havent mentioned DD (2 ½) Emily since the first day of my report and, lest you all think we forgot about her, let me take the time here to say we were really missing her especially Abby. But, we spoke with my mom several times a day and they were having a great time. My mom had told Emily we had gone to a party (she wasnt lying we were at the 50th anniversary celebration) and Emily was fine with that I dont think she has a sense of time yet so she didnt realize it was a week long party!
Today was our day at The Studios. I had planned for us to grab something quick at Captain Cooks as this was EE day at DS but David wanted a sit down breakfast so we popped into Kona. We both had omelets and Abby had her mickey pancake. Always good! We would be eating here the following morning as well so I was saving my Tonga Toast for tomorrow.
It was raining this morning and today we were well prepared with our ponchos. It wasnt pouring just a steady rain nothing that would change our plans. It did manage to keep some of the crowds away however and we basically had the Studios to ourselves until lunch time when the sun began poking out. We caught the Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show and really enjoyed it. I think of the 3 of us Abby actually enjoyed it the most funny considering she is 120% girl. But she kept saying cool every 5 minutes. We then made our way over to the Backlot Tour where David was chosen to be in the special effects show you know the one where they dump thousands of gallons of water on you! They gave Abby and I a spot in the front and center before they let anyone else in so we could get some good pics of him. It was great! Abby thought it was the coolest thing that her daddy was on stage and I can now finally say that my husband starred in a Walt Disney Production! He was a great sport about it we had seen this several times so he knew he was going to get drenched but he really got into it and enjoyed the experience. After the Backlot Tour (my favorite part is seeing Walts private plan if that plane could talk!) we took a ride on Star Tours and headed down towards RnRC and ToT to grab some fast passes and some lunch. We grabbed a light lunch at the counter service over by Anaheim Produce since we had a 4:00 ADR at Brown Derby for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We walked down Hollywood Blvd and it turns out there was only a 10 minute wait for RnRC and 13 minute wait for ToT perfect! Abby had tried ToT last year and hated it. She absolutely refused to go on it again so David and I knew wed have to take turns riding it. Abby did want to try RnRC though it would be her first real roller coaster (other than Space Mountain) and her first upside down roller coaster. Thank goodness there was only a 10 minute wait because one more minute in line and I really think she would have chickened out. She rode next to me and as her little head disappeared under the harness I could tell she was about to lose it. Then the countdown started and we were off in our limo. Have you ever had one of those Im the worst parent in the world moments? I had several through the course of this ride. Even though I had ridden this dozens of times it felt like my first time as I was looking at everything through Abbys eyes. I felt horrible thinking she was probably freaking out with every twist and loop. And I, who had carried her for 10 months in my womb and nursed her and wiped away every tear, was now putting her through this hell! When our limo came to a stop I pushed my harness up and looked at her expecting to find her having a breakdown instead I see her beautiful smile! She loved it! Not enough to go on it again but she loved it! Phew .
We did the Great Movie Ride and visited One Mans Dream. I love OMD - I could spend hours in here and love the movie at the end. We stopped in the shop that specializes in watches and I bought myself a new Mickey watch.
It was about time to head over to Brown Derby for our ADR. We arrived about 10 minutes early and they sat us right away. We love this restaurant its on our must do list every trip. We had done the FDP which included one appetizer, entrée, dessert and drink per person. I had the crab cake, fillet and crème brulee. David had the crab cake, fillet and white chocolate cheese cake. Everything was delicious! Abby had the chicken noodle soup, pasta and Hidden Treasure dessert she proclaimed everything yummy!
After dinner we had some time to kill so we took another flight on Star Tours which now had a 30 minute wait. We did some shopping and bought some Jo Jos Circus stuff for Emily and sent all our packages back to the Poly (another great benefit of staying on site). . We then headed over and caught the lighting of the Osborne lights. This was our first year to see it and it was unbelievable! Abbys favorite part was when it began snowing. Im so glad we did this!
Time to go get seats for Fantasmic. We made our way in the special FDP entrance to the theater I had forgotten what a long walk this was! We got good seats on the right hand side of the theater. Abby had never seen this show and is a bit frightened by fireworks so you could tell she watched it with one eye open. She ended up loving it though and David and I enjoyed it as well. It had been a few years since we had seen it and so it was all new to us again.
Our feet were sore and we were tired so we headed back to the Poly. Boy, you get spoiled by the monorail while we never had a bad bus experience I just look forward to the monorail so much more! The bus is just an added hassle at the end of a long day.
Back to the room and our turned down beds were waiting for us along with fresh towels and toiletries. We all took nice hot showers and climbed into bed with visions of pixie dust dancing in our heads!
