That's pretty much exactly what Dapper Days is. And they even say "dapper duds," which is pulled from Dapper Days as well. DD certainly doesn't own that term, but it seems funny to suddenly have essentially the same theme 10 days before the long-planned Dapper Days event.

I guess you are right. Maybe this is Disney's way to begin to reign in the unofficial events?
either way, I hope themed days continue in the parks, I enjoy them. Still hoping someone might be a little extra generous and offer to register my wife and I for this event. Our pass expiration date seems to fall inbetween the dates they offer these events for. Might be too crowded anyway, but seemed like fun. It's too bad Disney doesn't offer the events for all passport expiration dates. Maybe an advantage to buying an AP at certain times of the year then.

That is very gracious of you. Reading the rules it doesn't state that all have to be present at Check-in or to enter the park as it has with other promotions. Maybe during the registration period which begins on Wednesday there will be more information? My wife and I would love to attend the event, if you or another reading this thread may want to offer a registration. PM for additional details and e-mails, etc. This even looks fun as we are huge fans of 80's music. I wonder if the band is the 80's all starz they have at Tomorrowland at times..

If you are an AP holder who is not eligible to attend the event on your own, you shouldn't go. Just my opinion. Wait to see if Disney throws a renewal event closer to your AP expiration.

If Disney didn't want APs other than those with the expiration dates listed on the invite to attend, they would not allow each AP to invite guests, with any AP expiration date, to come with them. I don't think anyone is being inconsiderate by asking to be a guest of those invited. I think every AP has the right to bring with them any AP they wish, as long as their guests have valid AP's.

I appreciate your opinion, however forums such as this one are a great place for us lovers of all things Disney to come together in one place. Some of us have met in person and have long lasting new friendships while others may have never met each other but the advice and sometimes gracious offers have had tremendous impacts on their visits to Disneyland.
That said; Disney has noted that an invited AP holder can invite up to 5 others and they do not need to have their pass expiring. I was simply asking here as it's a great way to meet new people who love Disney as much as I do.
There are also certain AP expiration dates that Disney does not throw a renewal party, such as those near Christmas. Many will never have the opportunity to attend, which may be why Disney is offering extra registration slots.
I sincerely hope I haven't offended you, but I love meeting new people who share my interests. Give it a try sometime, you may be surprised at what you find. For things non-Disney, I suggest meetup.com

Does anyone know yet whether the invited passholder/s have to check in together with their guests or if everyone can check in separately?
Also, we received an invite addressed to The Rabbit Family (no individual names, and both DH and I have APs) -- does that mean DH and I each can invite up to 5 guests or that the 2 of us can invite 3 additional guests?

At the last event you did not need to check in together.

As for the additional guests, presumably if you each register separately you *should* be able to each add 4 additional people. If you register together (basically one of you is going as the other's guest) then I'd guess only 3 more.

**it didnt open right at 10 ... it didnt open until 10:02 on my clock. I was hitting refresh every 15 seconds. Then when the "register now" button appeared it sent me to the 'registration closed' link. I really dont think it has sold out. That would be insane, I was clicking like a crazy person.**

I am having the same issue and its driving me BONKERS

I have been refreshing and clicking "register now' for over 20 mins!

I just want to register already!

Update: On phone holding for a CM in the AP dept. Hoping to get to the bottom of this. Maybe I am wrong and it sold out before my link ever showed up.
On Hold now for over 25 mins - still waiting, refreshing, and clicking with no change.

I think they are just busy. I read on the facebook group mouse4life that people are beginning to get though and registering. They won't "sell out".
The site is just swamped.

Update: Got in the site added my pass as the primary and my partners pass as a 'guest' we will be attending, then attending dapper days in a few days and finally dapper day in WDW on 9-27. Hoping to get a lot of use out of some custom make matching outfits that we are having done for the events. WHEW .... glad it worked out for us, hope everyone else finally gets through. The CM I spoke to said they have never sold out and she doesn't imagine this one will sell out either. So there is hope !

UPDATE --

Got it all done on the phone with a great Cast Member!! Magical even!

Here's what happened -- my husband and daughter activated their annual passports before me last year (and who remembers that? not me...). Theirs expire Dec 5 whereas mine is AFTER the target dates. So instead of me being the primary with 5 others listed, my husband got listed as the primary with 5 of us listed. The card was simply addressed to J**** Family, so who knew?

So - hang there everyone. They are wanting us to come!
