I just read in a trip report that she entered AK at the AP line. Do all the parks have AP lines at the entrance? What times are they open? Only at rope drop? How much time do they save?
Thanks!

What we've found is that it is hit or miss as far as if it saves a lot of time or not, and whether or not there is one open for AP. We just got back from a trip and we did save a lot of time one day at EPCOT I believe it was, as no one else was using the line. From what I've seen they are more likely to be open early, but if it's really busy I've seen them open later.

I've never yet found it to be a time saver. Often the line for it is longer than other lines or it always seems to be at the opposite end from which I'm coming. Would take longer to walk to it than to just wait in another line. I suspect this is very much YMMV.

Not usually a time saver, esp since it's always waaaaay at one side. We just eyeball the lines and jump in the shortest.

(only exception I've seen was during a crazy F&WF weekend when Epcot lines were ridiculous and they were actually checking AP cards in the AP line - it DID go much faster)

Thanks everyone! I didn't even know AP lines existed.

There's a small, just above head height indicator of where the line even is, which is why you probably never noticed it & why some non-AP people end up in that line.

Only once have I seen them turning people away & making announcements down the line so people could get out of line.

In general, if the ticket line is 1-4 people deep & you'd have to walk an extra 50 ft to get to the AP line, its not worth it. Use it if you want, don't if you don't want. It's not a big deal either way.

Now...using the discover card entrance at Six Flags, was a different story.

Can only then AP holder use the AP line or can the family tag along?
I’m not really sure. I feel like that may be at the discretion of the CM minding the tapstyle. I was surprised to see an entire family in front of me in line at an AP entrance last week at the MK asked to go to another entrance because nobody had an AP. I’m not sure if they actually tried to tap in or if they just asked once they got up to the front.

Its because NOBODY had an AP. This question is about non-AP being allowed to enter WITH an AP & the answer is 'yes'. Discretion will come into play with how many non-AP would be allowed in too.

The tapstile they use for the AP entrance varies, so be aware it may not be in the same place two days in a row.

Right. And that’s why I responded, I’m not really sure and it’s at the discretion of the CM at the tapstyle.

The comment about nobody being let in because nobody had an AP was just an additional tidbit I noticed last week in addition to the question.

Thanks for letting us know that AP lines exist. Is there a thread/sticky for "I just got my first AP: What Should I Know? What Are All the Benefits?"

We have used the AP lines at MK & Disney Studios in the morning, but slightly after rope drop. We find they do save us time. In the regular lines, we often find ourselves behind the folks who have no idea how to tap in or use the finger scan. Things that aren’t usually an issue in the AP line. The only thing to be aware of is the AP line often has only 2 touch points. That can sometimes slow things down if there are several people in line.
