Annual passholder discount plus travel card rewards?

I know with the Disney credit card you have to pay at the time of service for food/merchandise discounts, but for the annual passholder discounts, can you still charge things to your room after using the discount and then put the room total on a travel credit card to get maximum rewards and get the food/merch to count for a travel category? Thanks!

Yes, that’s what we do - charge meals and merchandise to our room using our MBs and getting AP or DVC discounts, then pay with a CC that gives rewards for Travel. The total resort bill codes as Travel.
