Annual Passholder Dining Plan Package?

I just read this on mousesavers.com

"Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Package with Dining - As of late February 2008, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can purchase a special vacation package that includes either the standard Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan. The Dining Plans are not discounted with this package. The room rate on the Annual Passholder Package is not always discounted, but during certain times of year, a discount may be offered. This package does not include admission tickets, since obviously Annual Passholders don't need that component of a vacation package"

My question is if you have an annual pass and book the dining plan, can you also get the room discount if Disney offers one at that time?

I book the Annual Passholder Room with Dining and was told we could apply an AP discount if and when they came out.

You can go right to the AP website and book a AP discounted room that are currently available until mid May. Once you select the discounted room offer, it then gives you the option to add any of the dining plans. You can add the regular or the delux and you can add the wine package. Keep in mind when you do this, your room only reservation then becomes a package and will automatically add insurance, which you can opt to remove at the end. Plus instead of a room night deposit you will be required to make the standard package $200 deposit and have to go by package guidelines.

Let me see if I understand this...

Well I already have my room booked room only with AP discount. So I would have to switch it too a package and pay more than the 1 night deposit. Then because its a package I will have to add it on for every day of my stay? I am checking in Weds night but my roommate isnt coming till Thurs night.

I've done this; in fact I leave for AKL next week. I had a room only AP discount. I called CRO about a month and a half ago to add the DDP. I had to cancel my room only reservation and convert it to a package. The cost of the room AP discount turned out to be the same.

I'm paying $164 per night for a standard room at AKL with the cost of DDP added to it. I think its a good deal.

Total cost for 3 nights at AKL with DDP for 2 adults and 1 child = $810.

Question...

Am I ONLY ALLOWED to add a DDP ( as an AP HOLDER) when they tell me I can ??

I have a ressie in June ( room only) One CM said I could add the DDP but had to call in the Ressie... so I called in and was told it was a package deal... room discount AND add the DDP.

Seems like since I am an AP holder they could let me add the DDP any time.
Tried to rent points with a DVC member so I could add it.. but my time slot has no availability where I can afford to go.

The $164 is just for the room and does not include the DDP cost per night.
