Annual Passholder Celebration

So DW and my Premium APs expire on November 25. We received an invitation for the AP event back in September but couldn't go. We haven't received an invitation (yet?) to the event on November 18.

I know the registration link is at disneyland.com/events

Is there anything stopping us from registering for this event even without a postcard invitation given that we'll have valid APs?

The Disney system knows when your AP expires, so they see it as expiring on 11/25. They are trying to target the people whose APs are about to expire, in waves/stages.

You won't be able to attend this upcoming event unless you go as someone else's guest. Your party already happened (as did mine). That's why we're not getting invitations for this event too -- it was a one-time deal, and everyone is being grouped together by when their APs expire, and invited to different parties. Yours and mine expire in November, so our party was in September.

My husband, daughter and I all have different expirations so we get invited to all the parties! Works out great!
We went to the last party and it wasn't really anything too special. But it was still fun and we plan on doing this one as well.

We got our invite in the mail. For those of you who have been, do you think it's worth changing trip plans to go? We're planning on going in December, but thinking of changing plans. I've heard about the characters. What else do they do?

Thanks. That's what DW thought.

This is the kind of thing that really pisses me off about how Disney handles their AP program. They may have a system that makes sense for them, but it seems totally arbitrary to me. Not every AP member lives locally (we live in San Francisco) and can't make every special event -- especially one on a Tuesday night. Here's one we might be able to make, and apparently it's closed to us even though we pay a premium for not being SoCal residents and have valid APs.

Lain --

I know what you mean. It seems like there could have been some sort of back-up offer if the AP holders couldn't make the party -- a commemorative pin, a free magnet, something!

I even wonder if many locals were able to attend the party in early September -- it was on a Tuesday night, of all things, and it lasted until midnight (while not starting until 8 p.m.). It seems like a lot of people would have had to go to work and school the next day.

I mean, I don't know if we'll get an invite or not. But seeing that so many people have already gotten theirs, I'm not hopeful.

I get that these events are to encourage AP members to renew, but shouldn't they try a little harder than a one time deal? In our case, our APs don't expire til 11/25, but if we're not invited to an event on 11/18, that's not very encouraging.

Everyone in my family has an AP and we NEVER get snail mail or email about anything for AP holders....
would this be b/c we are in canada?
would is be worth to call and find out why we never get notices or newsletters?

My pass expires end of January and I received the invitation in the mail this week.

We will be there in December for a holiday visit so not going down in November.

I say be prepared for ridiculously long lines. It'll be like the Halloween and Christmas parties. Nice idea, but the crowds will be insane, guaranteed.

We are flying in from KS and will be there during the party. We are a group of 10, but I'm the only one with an AP that expires in Dec. any advice on what to do? Is it possible to get 'extra' people added to the reservation?

I will be there that week, but not an annual passholder. Just wondering which park it will be held at so that I can plan our day out to avoid the crowds coming in early.

It will be in DL, but crowds will be higher in both parks, as APs will be quite comfortable park hopping. DL will close earlier that night though, at 8 probably.

Our invite said disneyland park.

For those who have been, what else do they have besides characters? Are the ride lines shorter? Did they have WOC viewing that was less crowded? Freebies? I know... Nothing's free at Disney but you can always ask!

::MickeyMo I think it is super cool that they are having it on Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse's birthday!!::MinnieMo

Yep, I don't have inside info or anything, but the fact that the Nov party is being held in Disneyland instead of DCA may provide a hint at the kind of crowds they're expecting. I bet Dec/Jan are among the most common expiration dates for AP's.

I wish they'd allow changes to registrations as long as space is still available, but they make it very clear that once submitted you can't change anything. I have room for another person on my invite, and someone who wants to come, but he won't have an AP until closer to the event. I'll be kicking myself if registration is still open all the way up to the 11/15 deadline, but I've been shut out of enough events because they reached capacity that I don't dare wait until then to register, so I can't include him. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Our passes expire Dec 1 and we got an invite to the one back in September, which we couldn't attend since school had just started. Wish they had invited us to this one since #1 its closer to our renewal time and #2 we will actually be there during this one! We had planned this Nov. trip back in Dec. of last year when we bought the passes! Anyone want to add my DH and I to your invite ? ;)
