I'm currently at WDW and today at the MK, I got 20% off on all of my merchandise purchases by showing my annual pass. One CM told me the end date for this promtion is Feb 1 and another said there were exclusions, not all items qualified for the 20% discount. But she couldn't tell me what items that would be.

I couldn't find any info at the passholders site about a 20% discount so I am trying here. Does anyone have more information on this AP discount for merchandise? Does it expire on Jan 31 or is it still good on Feb 1? Is it good just in the parks and hotels or also at the DD Disney store?

Edit: the discount is now good through March 1.

I asked yesterday at the jewelry store in the MK and she said Feb 1, but she didn't know if Feb 1 was included or excluded. There really doesn't seem to be much info out there on this current discount! I also thought it would be for only purchases over $50 but I got it on a purchase for $35, too.

We got this discount on almost everything in December, and it was awesome! It was only Disney-owned merchandise stores - so Mitsukoshi in Japan and other similar places didn't offer the discount. Oddly enough, we got the discount at the Gingerbread shop in the Contemporary, but not the Gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian. No big deal, though - the pin we were purchasing was 50% off anyway. :rotfl:

I'm sure merchandise exclusions include things like gift cards and high-end stuff, but we got the discount on all of our normal t-shirt/pin/souvenir purchases. It was awesome - the discounts certainly made it worthwhile to have an AP! Hopefully they'll come to the conclusion that the discount was worth doing, and make it permanent (maybe at 10% or something).

We are here too and have been trying to tell other passholders. I did tell the manager at the WOD that this info is not on the website and wondered how they expect us to know this. Why offer a discount and not tell anyone. I was told to Feb, but no exact date. It is good for Jim Shore and D&B purses. Most likely not on WDCC. I stopped at the candy shop on the BW last night and they also said yes, but we will go back as it was crowded. We were told by the manager that it is disney wide property (but exclusions apply to EPCOT countires -- so you have to ask). Sadly, I can't find anything I want. I spend a couple of days at the Disney outlets and got some great buys (50-70% off), so got my fix there.

BTW -- the $50 minimum is for Disney Visa cardholders, no limit on AP dicounts.

I used the 20% discount to buy an expensive ornament in Germany today but Japan doesn't honor it (as I suspected.) It really is a great deal but too bad most people don't seem to know about it! I owe that first CM at the shop in the MK a big thank you for telling me the passholder discount is currently 20%.

I asked again today and this time I was told it runs through Feb 2 or 3. So who knows?

My wife just bought things at DTD today and was just told it has been extended to mar 1.

Things must be slow.

I'm pretty disappointed that we were just there on a last-minute trip, made purchases and never heard about this offer. I hope it has indeed been extended as we will be there again in a couple of weeks.

Once again, thanks and kudos to my fellow MOs for sharing helpful info!

march first is great, that means there is a chance they will extend to the end of March maybe. We're back mid-March with family and I'd really love to get the 20% off then, too.

We did too...:thumbsup2 The only difficult thing was that when DD12 tried to use her AP to get her purchases, they refused to give her the discount because she had no ID. :confused:I get it, but she is 12. The refused even when I said I was her Mom and showed them my ID and AP. I had to pay for the items with my ID and AP. That was a pain everytime we shopped and one of them wanted to buy something!

Yes the requirement to use the AP discount is that you are required to show a picture ID or it will not be accepted. We had to show our ID everytime.

We were at OKW from the 9th to the 24th, never heard about anything except for 20% at World of Disney that was to expire on the 9th. On the second to the last day, purchasing some stuff at OKW, the Cast Member asked if we were AP holders, and she gave us the 20%, and told us that is was good until Feb 1 at all Disney Merchandise locations. I'm not to upset, as we were there dropping our son off for the College Program, so we got to take advantage of the Cast Member 50% Holiday Discount!

We were at WDW Jan 10-17; I got in the habit of every time I bought something (souvenir, food, restaurants, whatever), I'd start by saying I had DVC, AP and Disney Visa...was there a discount and which was best.

The answer varied every place I was...there was always a discount...either 10% or 20%; sometimes it was Disney Visa; sometimes AP; sometimes DVC--sometimes all 3, sometimes 2 of the 3, sometimes just 1...if there was any "pattern" I sure couldn't find it.

So, I just started every payment with "what are my discount options" and pulled out all 3 cards...it worked (maybe--who knows if each CM knew all the options!)...

Disney's discounting is weird to say the least...but if it's not too much trouble, it's worth just asking about all 3...

Some CMs didn't know about the discount when we were there in Dec. and Jan.. It's worth asking them to check if you're in a Disney store (as opposed to those in the lands at Epcot). One shop I was in, one CM knew and another didn't.

Interesting about Germany, Inkmahm. I'll have to remember to ask if I'm shopping in WS next trip.

Good strategy DMKEDM.:thumbsup2

was also told the discount was expiring Jan 6, apparently the date keeps sliding.

That's ridiculous. There is no reason they shouldn't have been able to honor it w/you presenting yours. Although I'm surprised the AP don't have a photo on them? I've yet to have one, but would think that would be standard.

My wife just bought something at the store at OKW and got the discount. That's new, never had that happen.

The discount seems to work just about everywhere! We're going to dtd this afternoon so I'm sure I'll try it there. Normally I would leave most of my shopping for the disney store there because we'd get 10% off. It has been nice buying stuff as I see it in the parks because I know I can get the same 20% off there that I can get at dtd. Much more convenient to buy when I see it rather than list it to look for it later at dtd.
