Wouldn't it be nice if Disney gave DVC members the same annual pass deal the give to Florida Residents?

Wouldn't it be nice? Yeh

Will it happen? Don't count on it.

In our case, WDW would get more money from us. We only go to the parks once every two or three trips, depending on if we take grandkids or guests. When it's just DH and I, we do other things, like golf, take day trips, go to US/IA and other parks. If tickets were more affordable, we'd probably go to the parks every trip. This would result not only in the purchase of a park ticket, but also food, etc. But until that happens, there are other things to do and other places to see besides WDW.

Yup, ditto to everything goofy4dvc said. Except the part about the grandkids ;)

If each DVC member bought on average 3 - 4 AP, that would be over 200,000 passes annually, I'll take 3. ::yes::

If Disney gave DVC members a discount on annual passes I would buy four every year.

I agree but ours' would be six every year. I think someone in some department has figured incorrectly that they have us no matter what. What they don't realize is that many people (myself included) do the Annual Pass game where we purchase our AP's and go a couple of times on that AP, then skip almost a full year and then buy new AP's all over again. The way DVC is set up to bank and borrow almost invites this type of behavior. That's why I think you see that mentioned on this board a lot.

If there was a decent discount, it would cause people like me to review that startegy and actually make more trips to Disney and purchase more passes. Disney just doesn't get that point.

I kept hopping now that DVC is in the same department WDW hotels and tickets - we will get a better annual pass than the last one they tried to pass on us.

I have over the years brought lots of Disney tickets - I kept several and when I want to go to a WDW park I use them.

I kept an annual pass for US/IOA and SW.

If WDW would get us a reasonable one I would kept it too - even the seasonally one would be great.

They may not do this anymore, but when we first bought part of the paper work we signed acknowledged that membership in the dvc was not qualification for Fl. resident discounts.

If we received a decent discount because we are DVC members, we wouldn't have been able to spend time using our annual passes at US/IOA and Seaworld on our last visit home! DS probably would have missed out on the Pirate Adventures Dinner which he loved, and we wouldn't be going to HH this summer.

Instead of our usual 3-4 trips down to Orlando, we're limiting it to one this year, so that we'll go a year and a half without annual passes. We're using the amount that we'll save on the extra trips to pay for Space Camp for DS, and an "adults only" trip for dh and myself. The rest of it is being put aside for our Summer '05 trip to Europe or Hawaii (we haven't decided which yet).

So... the lack of discount annual passes is actually helping us to add variety to our vacation habits!

I saw on the news board that Universal, Sea world, etc are now offering payment plans for their Aps, so you can pay it in different installmanets. I thought that was nice. Wish WDw woudl do that, too. With a family of four it wodul be nice to break it up into several payments instead of one lump sum.

I am disappointed too in the ticket offerings DVC has given, but I still see a great value in the annual pass. Sure, I want a discount, and now that the DC card is gone, I will not get a discount on APs, but I will still buy them because they are still the best per/day deal for us going several times in 12 months. Would we buy more if they were discounted? ABSOLUTELY!! Right now we buy APs and then travel1-3 times in the following 365 days. After that, we wait 365 days before purchasing the next and we start the process over again. If there was a reasonable discount, we would purchase them EVERY year as well as purchasing for our guests who stay with us more than 8 days.

I know Disney doesn't think they would gain by offering DVC members discounts on passes, but THEY ARE WRONG!! The other thing is that we usually go when crowds are low.

Wow, I think Disney would be smart and give us at least a seasonal pass discount. I know we would go more, thus we would need to purchase more points (more money to Disney)! Disney would benefit not only from the additional points purchase but also from all the additional money we would spend on dinners, souvenirs, etc. during our additional trips to WDW. If we had a good discount, we would purchase a PAP every year.

Actually you signed acknowledging that owning DVC didn't qualify you for FL residency. That's entirely different though it would give you access to discounts if you qualified for residency. DVC could easily offer discounts to DVC members regardless of residency status, they simply choose not to.

All this time I thought that we were odd for only buying AP's every other year and not taking "advantage" of the renewal rates ..... guess not! We buy 5 AP's every other year and would definitely renew yearly, if only they offered a better rate. Someone else mentioned it, but Disney is really missing the point that if we aren't going in the parks, we aren't supporting their restaurants. We travel during the slower times of the year and IMO, they need all the business they can get based on the restaurant occupancy we see. We frequent the park restaurants very heavily when our passes are current and miss them (especially the Brown Derby's Cobb Salad) when we don't have them! Also, like many others on the boards, we frequent IOA/US (with our AP's that cost less than Disney's) during the period of time we don't have current passes. I can only hope that at some point they will come around and at least offer something comparable to the US/IOA rates!

Maybe if Roy Disney regains control of the family business he would listen.

Same deal here, we are definitely varying our vacations more & more to not include the Disney Parks... On our last trip, we bought 7 day hoppers & used one day to visit MK & MGM... we went to Seaworld & did Golf the rest of the time... We have Seaworld/Busch Garden's AP's, so those get the heaviest workout now.... I love the Disney accomodations & non-themepark options, so this really is working quite nicely for us now... HOWEVER, if they gave us the same Florida discount options, you can bet we'd buy four passes!
