My DH and myself have Disney Platinum pass-renewal certificates for our October trip. I was wondering how they will change with the new annual pass system if at all? do you think they will go by price paid to link into a new pass? I just want to make sure we don't have a problem. Thank you!

I don't think anyone here knows (or the ones who know aren't saying, because they want to keep their jobs!). But the last time they made big changes from having just two levels of AP - the one for theme parks only and the one for theme parks + water parks - to having multiple levels, some with blockout dates, people who had vouchers for the theme park only APs were given Platinum passes, despite being more expensive, because those matched the characteristics of the passes they had paid for - no blockout dates being the main one I can remember. I'm sure that someone will come on and correct my potentially faulty memory of the details, but the point is I would expect something similar to happen if big changes are made to APs when they come back for general sale.

Yeah, that's what we currently have but I'm worried that if the Pass system changes we'll get screwed! we paid for no block out dates and I probably can't afford to pay more. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! thanks for the quick reply, you are awesome!

You will not be charged more. You have the renewal certificate. It will be honored.

If you have a renewal certificate, yo have nothing to worry about this year.
When they finally release the new program, everything may change for next year.
I am glad we were able to renew our APs for this year. But I suspect we will still pay what ever to renew for next year, unless we can buy tickets for 2 weeks for less than an AP( not likely).

Agreed. Generally Disney will not alter the terms of your current pass, unless it is for the better. I have never heard of them adding blackout dates to a pass that has no blackout dates (that would not go over well).

Then again, the pandemic appears to have changed everything.

We started down the AP road by scheduling trips every summer. One late summer, then the following year early summer. That two week number has been true forever.
