Annual passes

The only annual passes with blackout dates are the non-platinum APs offered to Florida residents and DVC members (Gold, Silver, Weekday, etc.). Platinum and Platinum Plus APs (both regular and FL resident) do not have blackout dates.

They are called BLOCKOUT dates -

Gold - April spring break dates, Christmas/New Years dates
Silver - April spring break dates, June 5 - August 10, Christmas/New Years dates
Weekday Select - Weekends, April spring break dates, June June 3 - August 10, Christmas/New Years dates
Epcot After 4 - No blockout dates

As PP stated these passes are not available to everyone.

So if I purchase Disney Platnum pass, I shouldn't have any trouble using them for July 1 and 2 and December 17-30 or for Spring Break next year?

Nope. Platinum passes are good every day of the year. No blockout dates for that type of pass.

Thank you so much.

Another question:

What are typical rates for resorts for passholders? I tried to look it up but without passes - I can't see them.

AP holders used to get great discounts, but that really isn't the case anymore. The public offers tend to be better. Also, AP rates are generally released much later than the public offers, so if you like to book early the AP discounts will not be out when you book.

My advice - only get an AP if it makes sense for ticket savings. There are plenty of AP benefits which can save you money, but not enough to offset the higher cost of the tickets unless you plan on using the AP in a way that makes sense just as tickets (say, multiple trips in the same 12 month period).

We are taking back to back Disney vacations this summer -- one family and one school trip. It just makes more sense for me to buy the AP at $100 more total for all 3 of us and be able to go again before they expire. I was just trying to get a resort room estimate so I can plan future trips with our AP's -- trying to see how many we can take :yay:

don't plan on saving money with room rates.. you might but if you do it'll be very minimal counted in dollars, not tens of dollars or more. occasionally you get a surprise but not the dates your thinking of visiting those dates sell themselves and it's rare for discounts, especially for ap holders. basically ap holders are limited last minute deals.

now where it might save some money is calling up to see if there is a ticketless version of a general package. less common lately but again don't plan on room discounts as part of what savings you'll get upgrading to the ap.
