If I buy Disney World Annual Passes now can I use them in the year 2017 or is there a limit to how long I have to use them the 1st time???

Once activated, they are only good for one full year.

If you buy them now, but DON'T activate them, they will stay fresh and ready to activate at
any time (in 2017, if you like) and then be good for one full year following that eventual activation date.

What you will be buying is an Annual Pass VOUCHER.
When you are ready to use your AP, the voucher can be activated (converted to a "live AP") at any ticket booth or Guest Relations at WDW.

Not to worry.
If the five years gets near, just alert Disney to arrange an accommodation.

Disney won't just take the money and run if a guest buys an expensive AP and doesn't get to use it.

Haha...definitely activating it in July. It made me wonder though if people really do buy them and then wait years to activate them?

Dining reservations can be made the same time. FP's for AP's are 7 days of FP's within a 30 day window. If an AP stays on site then it's 60 days like all on site guests. But if staying offsite we can have 7 days anytime of FP's in a 30 day timeframe. So if you're an AP and go on a 8 day trip, you can't make FP selections for the last day until you've used the first days FP's

I bought my AP and booked a trip at the same time and within the 60 day window...so yes I was able to book ADR's and FP's immediately. But that was because I'm staying on property. So I'm not sure how it would have worked otherwise. Sorry!
