Well, I think I finally convinced DH that we NEED annual passes so we stop buying park hoppers for our multiple trips each year.

Here's my dilemma. DH is taking me to DL for my 30th birthday in April. When should we buy the annual passes?

AAA has a package with adult tickets for the kids' price. We will be staying at GCH and figured we would just get the park hoppers and dining plan. Should we buy the annual passes our last day or buy them beforehand and see if we can get an AP rate at the hotel?

Please, what do you think?!?!?!

The AP rate is only about 10% off rack rate unless they're running a deal (which they often don't until about a month or two before). To upgrade, you'll still have to pay the difference between the kids price and the APs, that's not a money savings there. So it depends on the difference between 10% off rack rate and the rate AAA gives you. The Dining Plan won't save you a cent, so that's really a non-issue.

I'd say go ahead and get APs so that you have them on day one of your trip. That way you can take advantage of the 10% off at most restaurants.

I really depends on what kind of AP you're getting. If you are going during a time when there might be blackout days, then you will want to wait until your last day to purchase your AP.

You can, btw, get an AP rate at the hotel as long as you have your AP when you check out. Just tell the reservations agent you are getting the AP on your visit.

No blackout days. We are planning on getting the unlimited one.

Thanks for sharing about the AP rate at the hotel. I always forget about that!
