Annual Passes for Both Coasts?

Hey guys, WDW veteran, DL trip planning newbie here- at the super early stages of planning of a once in a lifetime, bucketlist DL trip!

We're thinking January 2018 for our trip & I was wondering about tickets- I looked on the site with the cost of APs but couldn't find the price for the both coasts APs...I figure if we spend a week or so at DL early in the year, it'd make sense to get the passes & do another week later on in the year at WDW.

Could any of you experts tell me about how much the both coasts passes go for? I know it's a way out but I'd like to really get a ballpark/figure out what we should do.

It's tough to make that Premier Passport work I think. We are going to DLR x 5 days in September 2016 and 6 days in June 2017 as well as WDW x 7 days in January 2017, but that pass still isn't worth it for us. A Deluxe Annual pass at DLR is $600, and the 7 day park hopper at WDW is $439, which is $1039. Maybe it works out if you go during the black out periods, or if you go to both sites more than once in a year.

Not all Saturdays! During the summer and holidays, but there are several months where no Saturday's are blocked!

Even if you buy 3x 5 day park hoppers, it's $335x3= ~$1000 + $439 for a WDW 7 day park hopper still is barely even for an adult.

Or a Platinum AP at WDW is $775 and 2x 5 day park hoppers at DLR is $670 = $1445.

If you have kids, you also get a discount on the regular tickets that you don't get with the APs. And you can also buy tickets for a discount from a 3rd party, but not the AP.


It would be pretty cool to have that Premier pass, though. Believe me, I tried to make it work, lol.

Don't forget that the AP comes with some dining, shopping, and hotel benefits. Also, the Premier AP includes Photopass, which can be pretty good deal if you used to buy attraction photos. Often times, the discounts and other perks are enough to make it worth while getting at least one AP in the group.

Yes, that's a good point. Free parking is also a big one (only at the parks, not at the hotels unfortunately). At DLR, you have to buy at least the Signature pass to get the perks, while the Deluxe does not come with them. We are a family of 4, so we'll probably get 3 Deluxes and 1 Signature.

There is one other aspect to consider, though. Even if it works out where a Premier Annual Pass will save you some money, it still might be beneficial to purchase 2 separate annual passes at DLR and WDW instead, depending on your travel schedule. For example:

January 2017 - DLR
June 2017 - DLR
October 2017 - DLR
December 2017 - WDW
January 2018 - WDW
May 2018 - WDW
November 2018 - WDW

You could in theory buy a Premier Pass in June 2017, but it may be better to buy a DLR AP in January 2017 and a WDW AP in December 2017.

The Deluxe pass still includes the dining (10%), shopping (10%), select tours (15%) and hotel (variable, when available) discount perks.

I've heard of problems getting it to work. It's apparently not well tied into the information systems. I remember reading about issues getting in that had to be handled at customer service.

I bought the Premier AP at DLR earlier this year and didn't have any troubles adding it my MDE account. So hopefully that means they've gotten most of the difficulties ironed out.

I was reading about problems linking to My Disney Experience along with issues having the passes being recognized by FastPass. Some were complaining that once they took it to the other coast they couldn't get in without having something done at customer service, and I thought at the other part that created problems with the pass being recognized and another trip to customer service.

I guess the ultimate would be the lifetime passes given to the first paying guest and the first two child paying guests. They were given lifetime passes that they get every year valid at any Disney park around the world.

The way Disney constantly jacks up its prices it will probably go up 3 to 5 times in a year and a half. When Star Wars land finally opens up the premier pass will probably be 2000 dollars.
