Annual Passes - Discounts?

Are there any discounts on WDW Annual Passes?

There is a branch of AAA (Auto Club) named "AAA South" that serves Florida, Georgia, Middle & West Tennessee, and Puerto Rico lists NON-FLORIDA Resident AP's at a discount.

You must go to one of their offices to pick up the tickets.

There is a way to buy AP's from Disney at a discount.

Its easy, but requires a few "steps" to accomplish.

Here's the deal:

First, find the absolute best deal you can on a multi-day MYW ticket from a reputable WDW ticket discounter:
-----------------------------------------------------
Here are some popular, reliable links for info and/or tickets:

http://www.mousesavers.com

http://www.undercovertourist.com

http://www.ticketmania.com

http://www.mapleleaftickets.com

And, AAA travel offices can often be a good source.
-----------------------------------------------------

Buy your MYW ticket from the discounter.
(Likely the best deal will be on a ticket with a larger number of days on it.)

When you get to WDW, USE your discounted ticket to go into a THEME PARK at least one day.

THEN, go to any Guest Relations or Ticket Window at the park, TTC, or DTD.

Upgrade to an AP.

Since you have USED a day of your discounted ticket, you will receive the CURRENT GATE PRICE when you trade in your discounted ticket.

So...

You will get to "keep the discount" you got on the MYW ticket, but you will then be buying an AP as if you had paid full current gate price for the MYW you are trading-in.

Slick and legal.

That's what we did last year. I knew we wanted AP's so I researched all types of tickets last year - ph's, non- ph, with and w/o waterparks, expiring, non-expiring, etc. Some offered free days too. Get on every email list you can (mousesavers, mapleleaf, etc). I made a spreadsheet - the savings were well worth the time and effort. We entered the park, went straight to guest relations and upgraded.

Would you save more than the following scenario:
1. Book bounceback free dining pkg for 2009, buying 1 day ticket to qualify for pkg
2. Use 1 day ticket from current free dining pkg (2008) to purchase new AP vouchers (to be used in 2009)
By upgrading the 1 days to APs a year in advance, I saved the ticket cost increase in 2009. Would I save more by doing what you suggested in your earlier post? If yes, I'm sooooooooooo doing it!

How do you know it would be valid (if you buy a multi day and then upgrade)? I am worried that we may do this and they may not honor it...

Sorry to be a worry wort!

I have thought about this too. I am going on the 4/3 deal in May. Is it possible to upgrade one of those tickets to an AP? That way we could get AP rates next year for our trip and I would only have to buy 3 sets of park tickets and not 4. Any thoughts?:confused3

You simply do the math.

The upgrade costs the difference between the ticket you HAVE and the ticket that you WANT.

Because ALL tickets (regardless of where you buy them, from reputable discounters like the ones I listed) are real Disney Tickets.

The discounters buy them directly from Disney.

Disney will honor their own tickets in an upgrade.

Can they be the 14 day ultimate tickets we buy before leaving the UK? I'm sure they can't be upgraded but just thought I'd check!

Just wondering- but when you upgrade to the Annual Pass does the year start on the day you upgrade or on the day the original ticket was started?

If it is the day you upgrade then it makes sense to do the upgrade the last day of your trip. That way there is an extra week on your annual pass.

On the day the original ticket was started.

That's how they can give you the full value
for the upgrade even on tickets that have been used.

It makes the transaction as though you had purchased an AP from
the very first day.
Otherwise, you would lose the dollar value of the days you have already used.
