I am pretty sure that I know the answer to my own question, but I am confident that all you Fort Fiends can help me be sure.

We will be tent camping at the Fort for the 1st time in July. (Yes, I know about the heat, we are prepared for that.) Being we are a family of campers, I am quite confident that we will enjoy the Fort (I can't believe we haven't stayed there before!) Since we are now visiting WDW 2-3 times per year we are considering upgrading to AP's in July. We are all set there, but my question is for (hopefully) future visits to the Fort.

With AP's, if we are tent camping, can we still purchase the dining plan w/o having to purchase any extra tickets?

Also, with an AP, do you ever get discounts to the campground or am I just better off with AAA in that regard?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, you can still purchase the Dining Plan without extra tickets if you are an AP holder even at the campground.

Yes, there are AP discounts on the campsites, but they are few and far between. I have found that AAA discount is usually the one I end up with for most visits.

We got an AP discount on our site last November - saved us about $10/night

I just received (yesterday) a 20% discount on my stay (campsite $) in a premium site for my visit on 4/17 - 4/24 with our purchase of AP's.

Did you get this discount through Disney or AAA? I am debating whether on getting no expiration tickets or an annual pass. Each has its pros and cons for for our schedule but the AP may win out if I can save a more substantial amount over the no-expiration tickets.

I was given the discount because I purchased AP's for the family. I still have to call back and see if my AP purchase can be applied to my Oct and Dec ressies. I just haven't had the chance to do it today yet.

If you don't want to purchase the dining plan, you could look into the Tables in Wonderland and get the 20% discount off most table service restaurants & a few counter service.

My wife & I have done the DDP before, and it probably works well for most people, but it is a lot of eating and we have gotten back to eating one larger meal a day and splitting the other.

You do realize that if you purchase AP's that ya'll will wanna be in the parks more and that will cut into your fishing time, right?

Hi! We'll be tenting at the Fort in July, too. We're going the last two weeks, and hopefully :littleangel: we'll be in the 2000 loop (had it last year and LOVED it) occupying 3 sites. If you'll be there then, look for us. We'll be the sites with 14 kids, 6 adults, and bunches of lights/decorations/stuff (but I promise we're very well-organized because I'm the DCE (Disney Chief Exec) of our group. ;)

And a clothesline or three. :rotfl:

It would be great to meet you, but we will be there from the 10th through the 16th. If your around, I'll look you up!

We have had annual passes for the past three years. We usually make reservations at FW as far in advance as possible, then call to have the AP discount applied if one is announced. We have gotten a discount more often than not. I can't give advice on the dining plan, as we have never used it.
