How does that work? Our travel agent says in order to have the dining plan you need atleast one base ticket per person, is this how it works even if you have annual passes?

Hi no you don't need a base ticket. You can have the dining plan with an annual pass. The only thing is I think you have to book your hotel through Disney. You can't book it say like from expedia or something like that. I am almost a 100% sure about this but if anyone else has something to add please do :thumbsup2

hmmm - i didn't know you could add on the "dining plan" to an AP. good to know - but i do see some incorrect info on that link, so i'm not sure how new the info is? the tables in wonderland (thats all we ever use because you get discounts on most all the "nicer" dining places AND alcohol) has a price that is like 2 years old? i think i paid $70 for mine last month.

i've done the dining plan myself, i don't think its a bargain personally. but i will look into the add on thing.... people i know might be interested in that. i wonder how much $$$

I just did this a few weeks ago for our trip in March so I know it is possible. First I set up my account with Disney online, then I had to add my annual passes to my account (by adding the serial number for each found on the back of each pass) and then I booked a package and was able to click "ticketless dining plan" and add it. Hope this helps!

so i'm assuming if you have a current active AP (thats how you would have the AP number to access the AP website i assume).... interesting. how much was the add on? still, i remain a BIG fan of tables in wondeland!

good to know!

thanks girls, I read the link Wendy posted and it said you can add it, but without an discount such as AAA, which we already got. I guess I will have to look into it more..

sambycat- you are a fan of the tables of wonderland, huh? Is it worth it? We did the dining plan last may and loved it, but I don't really know how much it cost us, since it was all in the package, but it was really convenient. Maybe I should look into that.

I LOVED having the TiW card for our honeymoon trip. It is good at almost every sit down restaurant and took 20% off the top of the bill including alcohol, and it let you order what you want. You could just have apps and drinks or 2 apps and a dessert, you didn't have to get anything specific unlike the dining plan where you get a main and a dessert and a drink.

I don't have the exact price in front of me but I'm pretty sure it was the same price (same price as the package price per person, per day) to add on the ticketless dining plan. Also, we have seasonal passes because we're FL residents and they aren't even activated yet but we were still able to add them to our account (by using the code on the printout we received) and use them for the ticketless dining plan. We will activate them for our trip so we can show them at check in though.

We thought long and hard on whether or not to go with tables in wonderland and the only reason we decided against it is that we have 3 kids and will likely be doing 1-2 quick service meals a day and it doesn't work for most quick service locations. That was our deciding factor. If it were just H and I going we'd definitely opt for TIW over dining plan.

i'm with tinklover! thats where its really paid off for us - even just a drink and appetizers at most sit down places, its covered. and although we usually don't rent a car, we did for weddingfest (and sometimes eat with friends who do have cars) and you get free valet parking with meals....

anyway, for me *usually*, we don't have the time to eat at the times and places necessary to get your moneys worth with the dining plan - thats a lot of ADRs! most park trips for us have involved some kind of fan gathering or group thing, so we are juggling meets, meeting friends and trying to get park time in. that said, with the proper planning, it can be really worth it. and i think with kids, and the planning, it can be a great deal!

the one main trip i used it, i still didn't use all my lunch credits. :scared1:

I have a question bout the annual passes that come with the Escape package- can you add the dining plan to them too? DFTW said no, but I sometimes their info isn't correct. Thanks!

Well we are having an escape wedding, so that's what I was asking about, I guess I just didn't mention it in my post, but are there differences between the APs they give to escape brides and wishes brides? I guess I just assumed they were the same? Hmm, I'm still not sure about the answer, since we just got to confirm our date and don't have the APs yet. :confused3

I thought about DDP hut we're goog to go for TiW too.

That way we can order what we want for meals (often don't get app or desserts) and still benefit.

Also we have a few ADRs with family/friends. So I'm sure it'll pay for itself quickly!

There is no difference in the APs given to Escape and Wishes couples and no difference between the wedding APs and any other AP, except that you can't upgrade them to Premium APs.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, you can purchase the dining plan if you are using an AP (through a special link on the Annual Passholder web site or by calling Disney Travel Co.) but you do not qualify for FREE dining plans if you use an AP as your admission. You would have to buy whatever package they're selling to get the free plan.

Thanks for clearing this up for me!! :goodvibes
