Annual Pass ?

If you buy an annual pass in order to get (maybe) better room rates,do you have to go to the park first and have your real pass made before checking in or will the hotel,HRH,let you check in and then get it made?I've never been a pass holder but the overall benefits over six days including a hotel price break seems to be a pretty good deal if APH rates are in effect.Thanks guys.

I bought one to show the hotel at check in.
I did not redeem it in advance by taking it to a park.
Guess what? They didn't even ask for it and I got the AP rate. I can't guarantee they won't ask for it...they must have just spaced out.
I still have it!
(and I live in washington state!)

it saved us about $100 a night to use AP rate.
