Annual Pass?

I am in the midst of planning our first trip to Universal this fall and am trying to decide between annual passes and 4 day tickets. Are there any websites or promo codes that ever apply discounts to the Power (basic) annual pass? Traditionally are there certain times of year that Universal offers promotions (if they even do have annual pass promotions) Would it be a problem/hassle in the parks if I purchase an annual pass for myself and just the 4 day tickets for the rest of the family. Do you have to activate the annual pass separately or use separate gates from regular tickets? Thanks so much for any assistance and advice--I am still learning the working of Universal!

I believe most people try and find a deal on the 3 or 4 day park tickets, then use them and then upgrade to the powerpass to get the best deal on an AP. The powerpass only gives you discounts on hotel rates.

I have not heard there is a separate entrance for AP. I'm sure your family can go through the line together.

the preferred and premier annual pass allows for free parking in the garage, and discounts off of food/merch at UO.
those benefits are not given to the power pass holder.


but a power pass will allow you discounts at the hotels, purchase tickets.
the ap needs to be activated before you can buy tickets for the rest of your family.

check some of the other sites that sell UO tickets.

run the numbers to see if buying the multi day passes are at a price near the power pass.
you can upgrade and pay the difference.
compare what the 4 day p2p costs against the power pass.
use them once to enter the park so you would have that present ticket cost rate, applied when upgrading to the ap

if you plan to return within 12 months and not during a black out period, it would be worth it.

As squirrel mentioned, Power Pass only gets you a discount on the onsite hotels (maybe) (and future visits, of course). Gotta go Preferred or higher to get discounts on food and merchandise as well.

you are correct.
everyone uses the same entrance to be in the parks.

We will have a vehicle with us but are staying onsite and plan on walking to the parks. Would the higher level passes save on resort parking or only the theme park lots?

Only good for park parking.
