Annual Pass? When does it start?

When you buy an annual pass, when do your 365 days start? The day you purchase or the first day you visit a park? Thanks! :)

We are thinking of getting our passes 30-60 days before our first trip so I could book Fast Passes ahead of time. But I don't want to waste 30-60 days of our AP. :)

The first day you visit, unless you buy the pass at the parks.

If you buy at the parks it starts that day or the next? I plan to upgrade my tickets but will use the tickets first then plan on upgrading my 2nd park day so I can start utilizing the park hopper option. :)

If you buy an AP on property or exchange a will call confirmation (or exchange certificate, aka voucher) for the actual AP, the clock starts ticking when the CM issues the pass (unless it's an upgrade or renewal). Renewals change the expiration date by one calendar year.

If you upgrade a partially used MYW ticket to an AP, the start date of the AP will be back dated to the date the MYW ticket was first used.

You can do that, or you can do the upgrade on the first day, INSIDE the park that you entered (all parks have Guest Relations inside) or you could upgrade at a ticket booth or GR outside that park as you exit the first day.

In short, you can upgrade at any time after you have entered that first park using the original ticket, even if you only entered that park a minute or two earlier.

The AP starts when it's activated. If you buy it at the park, it's activated at purchase. If you buy it online, it's activated when you use it at the gate for the first time.

Some people have reported that their AP started on the upgrade day even on a partially used pass.

However, it's most likely a glitch and not something that should be relied on.

More likely an error on the part of the CM as I believe it's a manual process to backdate the AP.

Several years ago, I would receive an AP voucher when purchasing them online, which I would go and activate on my arrival to the park. That day of activation started my 365 day period.

I do have a question though- Can that AP voucher be linked to the MDE so FP+ reservations can be made ahead of time (I think 30 days ahead for AP holders not staying on property and 60 days if staying on property)? Is that something you need to call and have a CM link or can you just do it yourself online? Thanks.

1. Yes.
2. Correct.
3. Nope.
4. It will automatically show up in your MDE if you order an AP.

(Unless there is a GLITCH, which we all know is very rare.) ;)
