Annual Pass vs regular ticket?

I am just starting to plan my first trip to DLP next month. I just booked my flight today. I'm a WDW and Disneyland vet (and AP holder at DLR). In looking at ticket prices, it looks like the lowest annual pass costs 135 Euros and a 2 day ticket costs 140 Euros. Plus then you get the dining and merchandise discounts. Is there any downside to getting an annual pass instead of the 2 day ticket? There is almost a zero percent chance I will make it back there within a year (I live in Los Angeles). I have so many other questions, but I'll start with this one.

The AP has a lot of blackout days, you'll have to check them against your dates to make sure its right for your trip.
I'm not 100% certain but i've read the Classic AP can't be used for the two days following purchase.

The cheapest AP can't be used on day 2 and 3 of purchase so it would only work of you had split days.

Don't forget if you are staying at one of the onsite hotels your tickets are included in the package so no ticket is needed - a lot of frequent visitors to WDW and DL often forget that

That would be the downside, thank you. Lol.

I was going to stay at the B&B hotel, but I am staying for three nights but only need 2 park days. I don't want to pay for the extra two park days I am not going to use, so it looks like I will be booking the hotel separately. I don't really understand why they do that, because if I get in at 10:00 at night I don't want to have to pay for a ticket for that day. I may do an airbnb that is close to the parks as well.

You can buy the annual passes through the post. If you do that with the Classic, the day 2 and 3 no entry issue disappears as those days will probably take place before you even arrive at DLP. The annual pass will be sent to you complete in the post already active. However, you haven't left much time if you're going next month, so this may not be an option.

The main issue with using the Classic OR Fantasy annual passes and staying off site is the other blackout days. Here's a link to the blackout days for this year. http://www.dlpguide.com/calendar/annual-passport-blockouts/. Actually, this page may help you make a decision too: http://www.dlpguide.com/planning/booking/annual-passports/

Thank you! Because I am going during the week in May, even the lowest pass is unblocked then. Now to see about it being shipped.

if its only 2 days park entry you want, and its midweek in May, you should be able to use the mini billet tickets on the French (isle de france) DLP site under billets parcs - there is a calendar on the site to check you can use these tickets (they cost 62 euros for a one-day, 2-park ticket, cheaper for a one-day, 1-park ticket)

Thank you! Yes, looks like I would save about 20 Euros booking through that, more if I did only one park. I am slightly worried about not being able to read any of the communication they would send me though...

as long as you run everything through google translate before you order your tickets, I think you'll be fine, and then you can do the same thing when you get your e-tickets by email.

I speak French a little and read it better, but if I'm unsure, like Elaine says, simple run through google translate!
