Annual Pass upgrade?

I posted this over at theme parks, but wanted to post here because you guys respond more quickly, and if there's DVC specific rules, you'll know. So here's the question:

We're thinking of buying annual passes this year. Our son is currently 9, and will be 9 when we activate and use the pass for the first time. He'll turn 10 later in the year before we use it again. Is it possible to have the pass "upgraded" to adult like you used to be able to do with park hoppers? Would we have to make up the price difference?

Thanks!
Julie

You can continue using the pass as you purchased it at the time that he was 9yo. You dont have to pay any additional money b/c he turns 10 prior to the next visit.

I am not quite sure what you mean by upgrading to an adult pass b/c the child and adult pass provide the same admittance. If you mean that you want to upgrade to the annual pass that includes the water park then you can pay the difference to do so.

If I misunderstood the question, please let me know and I will try again! :)

We were told with the non-expiring park hoppers (or whatever they call them now) that if the child turned 10 before you used all the days, you had to take them to guest services at Town Hall and exchange them for an adult ticket. I wasn't sure if this also applied to APs as well.

We don't plan on upgrading to add anything, just wondering if because he turns 10 in the middle of the pass year, if we need to then get an adult pass for him.

I see that "upgrade" was the wrong word, but couldn't think of anything else for the title.

Thanks

Our daughter turned 10 three months after renewing her pass. She kept the same one for the rest of the year. The following year at renewal time we hd to buy an adult pass. Barb

Thanks. It makes sense (thinking about it) it would work that way.

That's not the case with APs though. They just have to not have celebrated their 10th birthday when you activate them.

Thanks again. We're headed down in a few weeks for our last trip with dad before he goes off to Afghanistan, so I guess we'll buy them when we get down to WDW. We'll be going to Disney a few times while he's gone, to give the kids something to look forward to besides crossing off days on the calendar until he's due back (400 day orders!:scared1: )

Just FYI, if a child turns 10, they will upgrade their ticket to an adult ticket at no charge to you at any ticket window.
