Annual pass thoughts

Does it make sense to get annual pass for my trip to Disney for the first week of February 2020 and then plan my 2021 trip for the last week of January, so it’s in the same 365 days.

I would prob get a 5 day park hopper pass each week and go the same time both years otherwise.

I’m wondering if I went in the same 365 day period I could go more days in my 7 day trips, plus get the AP discounts. I am a DVC resale member so I get no discounts as of now.

It will be for me, my DW and DD.

It might make sense to buy one AP (and get 5 day hoppers for your wife and daughter) bc it gives you merch discounts, memory maker, and the ability to buy a Tables in Wonderland card. You need to do the math. I have no idea about the cost of a 5 day hopper.

From my quick research it seems to be literally the same cost. Not including the benefits of discounts, and photo pass

I think it makes good sense with the discounts and memory maker. We didn't do this a few years and I regret it. We should have planned our October trips better. On our recent October trip we upgraded to an AP; first year since members 10 years; should have done it in previous years for our F&W trip. :-)

We always do this. 2 to 3 trips in a year, then a year off.

So we will do 14 to 20 days on an annual pass.

This - although if they are the same cost, you may as well get APs for all - then if you and your wife are separated in a store, you can each get the AP discount easily.

Also - though this may be a "con" when it comes to DVC/AP: once you get an AP (esp if you get APs for all), you will be tempted to squeeze in another trip to "make the most" of your APs. We ended up doing a 4-day weekend trip in September to take advantage of the early morning Toy Story Land time for AP holders (still one of the best events ever). (We stayed at the Swan on SPG/Marriott points.) 3 trips in 2018, when we thought we would take 1-2. Then 2019 - we were planning Easter and Xmas trips (I know, huge point eaters) and we decided to take an anniversary trip just the adults (DH still doesn't know, although I think subconsciously he knows), AND to extend our Xmas stay to include New Year's because, you know, it doesn't cost "extra" for tickets... #DVC/APlogic

We will typically get at least 14 park days on an AP over a calendar year so it makes sense for us to do that. The only drawback (if it is one) is we almost always squeeze in that one extra trip to get the most out of the AP and end up spending more than we would have if we had just done the park hoppers. :)

I think we were literally typing these at the same time.

:joker:

But don't forget, if you get an AP, you can also "save more" with Tables in Wonderland, even if you're not blue card DVC/unsure if you need blue card DVC!!!

The photopass is a nice plus, too. We stop a lot more often for family photos and there's no need to ask a bystander to take a pic for us.

TiW is a must! (and causes us to do far more TS meals than we normally would have). I guess the mouse has us right where he wants us. Haha!!
