annual pass savings

We are going the first week of may (2-6), should we get an AP to get some savings at the hotels, would it be more than the actual up to 25% off??

It is our first time in California, I wish I could go at the Disneyland Hotel but it is a 2 months trip so we have to keep some money for the rest!

For some reason I am not seeing the AP Rate calendar right now so I put in your dates and these are the rates that came up for standard rooms.

PPH: $872
DLH: $924
GCH: $1248

Those were assuming checking in May 2 and out on May 6 so 4 nights.... Prices do not include the tax.

So for the DLH it would be 924+tx and with the actual 25 % off, my quote is 1056 +tx. So around 132$ savings.

But the annual pass is 329$ and the 5 days tickets is 211$, so in the end I would be only saving 14$.

Is there more savings worth buying the AP in my case?

With the Deluxe AP you will also save 10% on your food and merchandise purchases. The Food discount is an always thing. The Merchandise discount is through Dec 31, 2011 (currently, they have been extending it)

Only one of you will need the AP in order to take advantage of the discounts...

I'm not sure if there is any possibility of a return trip in the year but of course then it pays for itself right there.

I wish we could go back! But we are driving from Quebec, Canada. So next trip we will go back to WDW.

So, you'll order your AP online and then you should select the E-ticket option. They will email you a voucher that you will print and present at the turnstiles. They will give you a one-day ticket at the turnstiles and you will turn that into an AP card at the AP processing center. That's the easiest way to do it. They don't ship new AP's anyway because you have to get your picture taken for the card. You'll have to go to the processing center no matter what.

You won't be able to access the AP site until you have the card in hand, but you CAN call the hotels and tell them that you will have an AP at the time of check-in and they can book you at the AP rate over the phone.

If I were you, I would call Disney and book your dates before you purchase the AP. What if you call and find out that the AP rate for the room type and dates you want is no longer available? You might end up re-thinking the AP decision if it's not going to save you enough money. If, as you expect, the AP rate is great and going to save you enough to make it worth it, you can book on the phone with the agent and let them know that you will have an AP at check-in time. You will then have the option to buy online ahead of time or purchase when you get there. I think you might be able to purchase your AP at the hotel check-in desk although you would still need to get the processing and picture-taking done at the park.

Yes. When I first bought my AP a couple of years ago, I bought it online, printed out the voucher, got a special ticket at the turnstiles, then took that ticket to the AP center inside Disneyland (there is also one inside California Adventure) and got my actual card with the photo.

Also not a problem. As long as you have the AP when you check-in, you will be fine.

I do actually agree with the last poster's comment that you should make sure you have a reservation first before you actually pay for your AP. If the only reason you are buying an AP is for that room, make sure you can still get the room before you buy a bunch of expensive AP's!

Yes, there is a fee for parking at the on-site hotels. It is $15 per night.

I don't know why on earth the AP hotel availability has disappeared from the website, but I can tell you that the last time I checked, the hotel rates in May were:

PPH: $188 (without tax)
DLH: I don't remember
GC: $266 (with tax it came to $311)

That was for your basic standard view room.... the AP rate was 40%, while the Spring savings was 30% I believe
