Hello
I see here on the DIS boards something about a AP room discount.
What is the discount, and for which resorts are they? Can they be use for Cash stays? Point Stays? or both?
We purchased our vouchers, have to pick up our passes on our next visit.
Any way we can get e'mails and newsletters now about the AP perks prior to us trading the vouchers in?
Thanks in advance for your help! :)

No discounted point nights. There are cash night discounts, they vary seasonally, and they also vary as to which resorts they apply.

I have gotten POP Century as low as $59 (+tax) per night. Usually they will be in the 25% to 40% discout range, but again, it varies a lot by season.

Disney just announced new AP deals for January and February. $49 per night at the values and $89 at the moderates. Unlike some past specials Friday and Saturday nights are include at these prices.

I booked a Fri-Sun in early February just to save some weekend points.

I'm a brand new AP holder; I just bought them 2 weeks ago when I was at Disney.

I'm planning my next trip for summer 2009 and I would like to use my DVC points and then use cash for some nights at a non-DVC resort.

Does anyone know if Disney typically offers AP discounts for any resorts during summer time (did they for this past summer) ?

Thanks

Joe

It really comes down to how much availability there is. The more unsold rooms there are the more likely it is that there will be discounts offered. If the economy continues to slide then I think you'll definitely see some AP discounts next summer. Remember that if you have a AAA membership you can get 20% off your room during most times of the year. You could book it that way, initially, and then keep your eyes open for any AP discounts offered.

The problem with the AP rates (for me anyway) is that they don't usually release them until about 3 months ahead and for someone like me who likes to have our flights booked and everything planned well ahead of time that's pretty short notice. You also never know which resorts will be included. There is often a "code watch" thread based on the month you're waiting for. You could subscribe to that to help you keep an eye out for when the AP rates are released. Once they're released they often sell out pretty quick. We usually just book something on the DVC cash discount (at 25% off) so I know what's what. If you hold out for the AP rates tho they're usually about 40% off.

Here's a link over to the Codes and Rates board - you can go look for a watch thread for your month!

Although we are new DVC owners, we have be ap holders for several years. I have made reservations to make sure we have a place for the time we want and call when I know they have released codes and ask them to apply it to the ressie. Sometimes, we move resorts at this time if I want to try a new one or if it is a better price somewhere other than the original place. Just remember to check to see if the cm has cancelled the first one. I just added onto our SS ressie for Thanksgiving and used the ap code to get a great price at the French Quarter for the extra day.

Thanks Annie and htw. I appreciate the link to the codes and I agree it would make sense to make the reservation well ahead of time and then if the AP discount occurs, I can then apply it or worst case switch hotels to get the discount.
