My AP expires on 1/20/04. Is it to late to renew by mail? I will be going to Disney on 1/31/04. Thanks for any info::MinnieMo

You will be able to renew it at the park when you go. It will still be backdated to 1/20 but it won't be a problem.

Thanks Golden Oldie, I didn't know if they would give me the renewal price since it was after the date. I guess it really does not matter, I could just buy a new one on the 31st when I get there. How much is the savings buy renewing it? ::MinnieMo

Renewal ($350.39) is currently $42.60 less than a new one ($392.99). Trust me, you will have no problem renewing it on the 31st. :)

I thought there was no grace period any longer on APs and if you wanted to discounted renewal rate you had to renew on or before the expiration date???

You have 30 days before or after to renew an AP and get the renewal price. The expiration date will be the same as printed on the pass plus one year no matter what day you renew.

I just got this quote from Dreams Unlimited ticket price page:

You must renew on or before your expiration date, and your pass will be valid from the date of renewal, not the date of first use.
DU ticket price page

Then I just read this at www.allearsnet.com:
The 30 day renewal window you used to get to renew an AP/PAP after it expired was discontinued in October, 2000. You must now renew by your expiration date to get the renewal rate. Your renewed pass will begin the day after the old one expires. **There have been some recent reports of people being able to renew an AP/PAP that expired a month or so before being renewed at a WDW Guest Relations window. The pass was backdated to the previous expiration.

So I'm more confused than ever!

Just as the resort CM's have great latitude in issuing UPH's, the Guest Relations CM's have great latitude in renewing AP/PAP's. If you get the right one you can even get a renewal months after it first expired. It will of course be backdated but it *can* still be done.

You won't find any GR CM's who will decline to renew your pass within 30 days past the date. After that time frame, it depends on who you get. It's all up to them.

Disney's policies, even those in writing like the AP renewal, aren't always the practices that are applied in those situations. Think of the "must have valid AP at check-in" or "UPH's must be purchased for all members of your party", et al.

By the way, the DU quote is worded incorrectly even by Disney's standards. It should say: "You must renew on or before your expiration date, and your pass will be valid for one year from the original expiration date, not the date of first use." The date of the renewal has nothing to do with it. It's the date of expiration on the original pass that counts.
