I currently have a FL platinum pass, it is able to be renewed now. I had planned to downgrade to a Gold or even silver, since this past summer was bad with mask wearing and the heat for my youngest. It won't give me the option to renew for a gold or silver, only the platinum online. Is this something I have to go to a ticket window for or are they just not allowing g people to change their renewal type of AP? Thanks!

I'm not sure about FL passes, but I have DVC gold and could only upgrade online to Platinum. I had to call to renew. (I did stay at gold, so not sure if they will downgrade). Good luck

You can change your AP type when you upgrade. If you can't see the option to do so on line, just call the AP phone line.

Not allowing pass changes, only allowed to renew at your current level
Last Friday I went in person to Guest Services at Disney Springs, where I was then directed to the ticketing office, and I was able to buy a new Florida resident Platinum AP, which was an upgrade from my Florida Resident Weekday Select Pass.

My prior pass had expired in August and the cast member told me I couldn’t do a renewal but I could do a new purchase. I asked for and got the Platinum AP, so obviously I was allowed an upgrade. I did have to pay the regular Florida resident price, not the renewal price, but my new AP will be valid from the date of first use and not the date of purchase.

I can't remember if I renewed through the WDW website or through the MDE app, but I do remember during the renewal process that a drop-down box appeared and I could choose which pass level to renew at. Since we had the Theme Park Select, I opted to upgrade to Gold instead of paying for Memory Maker after each trip. Since I was able to choose a different pass, I'm kind of surprised that you weren't. I figured that was available to everyone renewing a FL resident AP. Definitely give AP member services a call about that because that seems odd.

Was this before or after the closure

Hi, did they check if you were a previous AP holder? Like in their system? Or did they just let you purchase the Platinum pass based on your license?

They did a computer check to verify that we had prior APs that had expired after the closure of the parks in 2020.

Does it make a difference if you are using the app or website? I have never tried to do it in the app, because I have always found the website to be easier to deal with. I just wondered if maybe the menu options aren’t the same for some reason.

I still don’t get why we can’t upgrade our AP you don’t want to sell new ones? Got it. But not letting us cancel it especially after we stick with you when people wanted their money back makes no sense.
