Annual pass renewal question

I have an annual pass that will expire August 10th. I plan to renew since I will be going in September and November. I believe there is a discount for renewing. Would I get that discount in addition to the dvc discount?

Also, I hear people talk about buying vouchers for their annual pass before the prices increase. How does that work? Where do I buy that from?

Thanks for the help.

You can both buy a new AP and renew an existing one (within 30 days either way of its expiration) by calling MS. You can also do it online at the AP site...but while I know I did do that once, I remember it being somewhat confusing and complicated...

Yes, you get both the DVC member discount and the renewal discount (I'm on my 7th consecutive year of renewal).

If you want to buy a new AP, you can buy one "now" and just hold on to the voucher til you're ready to use it...you exchange your voucher for the AP itself at any Guest Services and it activates the first time you go into a park...so, you could trade your voucher for an AP on one trip, but keep it unused (for years & years!) and it won't "start" til your first entrance into a park.

For a renewal, though, you keep your same expiration date no matter what.

So, renewals (even w/the discount, which as I recall is around $35-$40) may or may not be worth it, depending on the timing of your next trips...we've been going 3-4 times/year for 5-6 years now, so I don't even think about not renewing...next year I'll have to start thinking about that, though, as my DS will out of school and into the work world of vacations and less time flexibility, so our WDW patterns will change...

Anyway, renewing (or buying) through MS is very easy...

For people who are more computer-literate than I am, renewing (or buying) online may also be easy--but I remember thinking it was SO much trouble to figure out I just started planning on calling to do my renewals...

There is a DVC price for new and renewal.

DVC new is $446.24 incl tax, a DVC renewal is $398.31. I don't think you can buy a renewal more than 30 days before expiration.

Regular price is $552.74/$510.14 so the DVC discount is significant.

thanks for all the help with AP with DVC. I also have a couple of quick questions:
1) what is the price for a discounted child ticket?

We are renewing our annual pass also and my question is : if it expired on 4/01/12 and we renew on 4/26/12 what is the date it is effective. Will it be 4/26/12 for one year or does it go back to the 4/01/12?
Thanks for info if someone knows. Being lazy i could call MS. Have a happy Easter all.

If you renew a pass, the expiration date is the same as your expiring pass plus one year. In your example, a renewed pass will expire on 4/01/13.

If you purchase a new AP, the expiration date is one year from the date you purchase the new AP or the exchange date if you purchase a voucher or use will-call. For example, if you purchase a new AP today online or through MS using will-call, and you pick up the new AP at the MK on 6/1/12, then the expiration of that new pass will be 6/1/13.

The DVC Tourist Charter is the rate for non-FL DVC members and the DVC Resident Charter rate is for FL-resident DVC members. Charter APs are those purchased when they were first available and renewed annually since that time.

Looking at your chart and wondering what DVC Tourist Charter and DVC Resident Charter are?

A Charter AP is one that was purchased when Annual Passes were first introduced and renewed every year since. If a Tourist Charter AP holder becomes a FL Resident and/or a DVC Member, they can switch to the appropriate price level at renewal.

"Charter." Duh me! That makes sense. I've just never run across that terminology before. Thanks!
