Annual pass redemption certificate and expiration date question

We are planning a trip to WDW, it's been so long I can't remember anything.

If I purchase our APs online does our 1 year start then or when we redeem them?

Also can we make fast pass + reservations with just the AP certificate and not the actual AP?

If you purchase APs online, they are unactivated vouchers. The clock doesn't start ticking until you activate them, when you visit your first park.

Yes, you can make FP+ reservations once you link the voucher number to MDX.

+1 I have active tickets right now but they expire when the trip comes. I renewed and have vouchers only and was able to make fast passes. when I bought them the first year they also were not activated yet and was able to get them and that was during testing. which we all know was a bit nutty.

date starts when u activate. remember when u renew the renewal date starts the same date a year later. not when u activate the voucher say if it was 2 months past ur anniversary date.
