ok... so last night i had a brainwave... lol..... me and my best friend (who i go to dlrp with) are both moving down south to uni this year... and i was thinking, if we got annual passes they're be nothing to stop us jumping on the chunnel and going over to disney, even if just for the day right? and the train doesn't cost that much for a "youth" ticket..

anyways... i have a few AP questions.. lol...

do they have different types of AP?
how much do they cost? (i remember seing info about it in the resort but now i forget... la la la)
do they just give you normal acess to the parks or can you stay later/go earlier etc?
do you get any other discounts like on hotels, merchandise, eating etc?
are there any other perks?
do you have to buy them in the park?
is there anything else i should know?

thanks guys!

There are 3 types of annual passports.
With Dream passport you can get into the park 1 hour earlier but passport does not allow later stay in the park.
Have a look here for details of annual passport.
Have a search under annual passports and you'll see a number of threads :)

We have DP's they are worth the money just for the savings you get on the hotels, and you only need one person to have one to get the saving on the hotel room. We booked eurostar seperately for our travel

With the reductions on hotel rates, can you still get reductions in school holiday/ half-terms etc.?
Thank You,
princess:

In an old annual passport magazine it lists -
Hotel Cheyenne, Hotel New York and Disneyland Hotel had 25% discount for the following dates in the summer 14th to 17th July, 14th to 17th August, 29th August to 4th September. :)

er... to book room only do you have to ring up or book in the parks? and does anyone have any idea how much this costs on average? like, is it more-or-less how much the package is listed for minus the ticket price?

annndd.... just thinking outloud here... but.... as far as i can gather you can only buy APs at the AP office in Disney.... so, if you've already booked a holiday and buy the AP whilst you're there they will discount the price of your park ticket but wouldn't give you the money back you could've saved on the hotel....?!?!

would it be feasable to go without booking any hotel, buy the AP once you get there and just hope they have rooms?

Price can vary dependant on the promotion.
I recall a poster had room only price dearer than package :confused3

You can order AP over the phone and you'll be given a temporary pass that you swap at bureau for the real thing :)
You will only get the discount of one day from package ticket on your annual passport.

It is possible to go without hotel booking but not sure how that would work for discount since they know you are there and the rate might not be any better.

Just a thought Becks, perhaps you could book a room at one of the offsite hotels like Explorers, Holiday Inn, Kyriad, Movenpick? I know they are not Disney hotels but they are much cheaper and do have shuttle buses.

I couldn't imagine having my AP now....the benefits it gives you are great - on my last trip I got six days access, regular 10% discount on food, shopping, fastpasses, free gift, free drinks, early access, discount on Tink show, Grease show..... - on top of the 8 days I has last month and the one day 20% shopping discount. They pay for themselves in no time......I haven't even looked at the hotel discounts - the dates seem quite restrictive - at least in comparsion to the AP discounts for WDW.

Like others have suggested - look at the other shuttle hotels. The Dream passport has gone up to 179euros but is still worth every penny if you are going to be going to the park for any more than 4 or five days in the year.
