Annual Pass Question

My best friend purchased annual passes (has the voucher) for the first time. She is under the impression that she has to go to a park to have them activiated. I thought they can be activiated when she checks in. How does it actually work?

Many thanks.

I THINK you must go to a park to activate them. Plus, why would you want to activate them before you are at the parks? You would be wasting a day of use. If it is to get the AP rate, I have never been asked to show my pass, and am not sure if the voucher would be sufficient. Dunno if this helps.

They are activated at Guest Relations at any of the theme parks.

Don't worry - she can check in at the hotel with her AP rate - even if they do ask for the pass at check in (which as has already been said, they usually do not do) it won't matter whether it's been "activated". The first time she goes to a park she will activate her pass, and it will be good for one year from her first entrance.

I believe they can also be activated at Guest Services in the Downtown Disney Marketplace.

That means I could order (and pay) an AP get the voucher this year an activate it next year ....or later and then it will be good for one year after the first day of use? A friend of mine told me that it will be activated when buying at the internet?

What is right?

I purchased my AP's in December before the rate went up (via the internet).
I received my AP "Vouchers" a few days later by courier. We will not be in WDW until March, and until I go to one of the Parks (or DTD) the Vouchers do not get exchanged for true AP's until that time. They are good for one year from the date they are actually exchanged (so, yes you can buy them now and activate/exchange them next year).
Hope this helps.

You can also activate them (trade them for a real ticket) at the TTC which has many more Guest Service windows than MK or Epcot. Every person has to be there - one person can't go activate several tickets.

Thanks for the aswers.

I now wonder how it works with the DDE?
Can you get this card at the guest relations when activating the AP? Or what is the best way to get it activated the same day as the AP?

I'm not sure how it works now that DDE has changed somewhat, but in the past, I never had to activate it. I received the card in the mail, and it was valid for one year from date of issue.

As for activating APs, I did ours at TTC, and I did all of them - no one else had to be there with me. But that could have changed as well.
