Hi, not sure if this is the correct thread but I have a question about Annual Pass renewal as a Florida resident. Everyone on this board is so helpful and knowledgeable, and I vaguely remember a similar discussion several months back, I thought I would pose the question here.

I'm less than 60 days away from my expiration date for my Silver pass. A Disney cast member told me via phone that if I renew I qualify for the 13 months for the price of 12 promotion. However, that extra month would only get me to June 2018, and I'm blacked out during 3 of the 4 weeks in June anyway. Would it make more sense to get an entirely new pass in August 2017 that would be effective until September 2018?

Thanks.

Do the math.

I have let a pass lapse when the months paid for but didn't use cost me more than the discount for the renewal.

I am not sure you would get the 13 month promotion at that point with a new pass. I believe that promotion has ended but annual passholders who renew are granted the extension when renewing. You would be making a new purchase at that point and not a renewal so I don't think the 13 month promotion would apply.

The promotion did officially end but if they are going to give it to you..... Order them on the phone (you must pay for them at the time of ordering) and request a Will Call Pick up. Ride out your current passes until they expire. Pick up your new passes at any Guest Relations desk. Your new passes will be active as of the date of pick up not the date of purchase giving you a new expiration date and allowing your current pass to be used for its entire duration. This way you get your renewal price, any promotions you are entitled to and you don't have passes over lap in dates.

I'm very confused now. The Cast Member I spoke to on the phone stated the promotion was still active. The promotion is listed on the Disney website but when I click on it it's not visible. It does state that it would need to be renewed on or before October 1, 2017 to be eligible for the promotion. I might try the Guest Relations trick mentioned above. I'm also considering just upgrading my pass so I won't be blacked out the month of June.

The promotion is still going on for AP renewals through October 1st in order to allow passholders to receive the extra month. However, I am pretty sure when you renew it starts the day your last pass ends. So if your renewal is May 1st for example your renewal starts then not when you next go to the park. If you renew on April 15, the new AP starts May 1st. If you renew May 15, the new AP starts May 1st. That is because you will receive the renewal rate and not pay the full AP price.

the 13 months is still going on for renewals not new passes in order to get 13 months you must renew your pass and when you do this that date will be 13 month from when you first got your pass so if your end of your pass is the 10 of April your new pass will end the 10 of may of next year.
