Hi Everyone! I have a question on the anual passe. I know you can buy them in advanced but when does your year start? From your purchase date or your first visit to the parks? Andf if the start at your first park visit, is their a specific time frame from when you purchase them that you have to go activate them?

Aslo when you book a room with the annual pass discount, do you just tell them over the phone you have one and than at check in show it?

I am looking into going back next year but would like to buy the tickets as I save for them.

Lisa

If you purchase an AP through TDS, your year will start the day you activate (first use) the pass. So, if you purchase your AP through TDS on April 1, but don't use it until July 1, your year will begin on July 1.

Yes, when you book a room with an AP discount, all you need to do when you make the reservation is tell them that you're an AP holder. Then, when you check in to your resort, you must present your AP (an AP voucher is acceptable).

Another question...how do you activate them? Or does it do it automatically?

You have to go to a ticket window or guest services window at a park or Downtown Disney. You have to show ID with your name and address on it (adults), they key the info into the computer system and print out your actual pass with your name on it. It becomes effective that day.

Can annual passes be activated at check in? Would an AP be a separate card from the resort card that allows you charge from the parks to your room?

AP's cannot be activated at the resorts. It is separate from your room key.

Just called to get an AP discount on my FW reservation at Christmas, but I was told no.
How can that be fair?

What's fair got to do with it? AP discounts for 2002 are not yet available past September. There is never a guarantee that AP rates at resorts will be offered during any given time period or that you will be able to secure one even if they are.

One more question, I have 1 day left on a 5 day hopper from last year. Can I turn that in and use the credit towards the annual pass?

Lisa

Yes Lisa, you can. Just go to any Guest Relations window at any major park or at DD and they will apply that credit to your new AP.

ok I though my last question would be my last but I just found another one. What happens if you buy a childs annual pass for a child that is 9 when it is activated but turns 10 when you go back to use it a second time? Just renew them as an adult at renewal time?

Disney does not penalize children for growing up. Stop by Guest Relations after the child turns 10 and they will change the child's AP to an adult one for free. They do this for all admission media, not just AP's.

But, as I hear it, if you buy a voucher at TDS for a 9 year old who turns 10 before you activate, you'll need to get an adult pass and pay the difference.

Anyone ever experience that?
