Annual Pass Question

We have 2 trips to DL planned this year. One in March and another in October. We decided we should just buy the deluxe annual passport (the one that has blackout dates). However, the Sat of our March trip is blacked out. So, I was thinking we should buy a 4 day pass and then on our last day, upgrade to the annual pass. Is there any reason this wouldn't work? My understanding is that they charge you the difference between the ticket and the passport ($239-$149 = $90). Is that correct?

Thanks!

Yep that is the best option. This is what we do if we have to renew and there is a blackout date on our trip. Your AP will be valid from the first day of use on your parkhopper.

somebody correct me if I'm mistaken, please, but I believe you should upgrade your ticket on your first day, not your last day (better value)

But if you update on your first day, i dont think you can use your EE.

Why would it be a better value? My understanding is that they credit the whole amount of your parkhopper to the annual pass price. My husband was concerned that they prorate it based on days used but from what I have read on this board, that doesn't seem to be the case? Please tell me if he is right! The reason I would wait until our last or 2nd to last day is that the 2nd to the last day is the one that is blacked out.

Thanks!

No, it wouldn't be a better value... unless of course you are using it for shopping/dining discounts for purchases large enough to make it a better value than adding the $30 blockout passes and losing EE priviledges in the first few days of your trip.
