Annual pass question

Hi everyone,
We just got back from a WONDERFUL trip Home at BCV, weather was a bit hot but thats OK, MNSSHP was great and WE LOVED Stormalong Bay. We are already planning for next December, cruise and VWL if we can get it at 7 months. Anyway here is my question, is this too good to be true?

10 day Hopper with no exp for 2 adults and 2 kids= 1667.80
DVC discount annual passes for 2 adults and 2 kids= 1337.64

Is that right?

I'm not sure what the actual dollars are but I do know the 10 day park hopper is more expensive than the APs. You seem to be correct...

An even better thing is that you'll get some AP discounts for meals and such at some different places than you currently get a DVC discount at. Additionally, if you buy an AP you can also get the Disney Dining Experience card ($60) that gives you a 20% discount on your entire meal (including drinks) at almost every sit-down restaurant.

Sounds about right. That is why even before the DVC discount on the AP's I always purchased them instead of the length of stay passes. I usually take at least 2 trips per year to WDW that total at least 10 days if not more so it always made more sense to me to get the AP's. Last year I didn't bother to renew but waited because I knew that there would be a 5 month gap between my AP expiration date and my next trip. There was only a $20 difference between the renewal cost and waiting to buy a new pass so I decided paying the $20 was worth not having the pass for the 5 months that I wouldn't need it for. The problem with the renewals is if you won't be going for months after the expiration the renewal date is the day you activate the pass originally.

With the AP you dont get the extras such as entry into the water parks, disney quest or pleasure island, a 10 day pass compared to the premium AP may be cheaper, has anyone checked this?

Adult AP with DVC ($434 - $100) discount = $334
Child AP with DVC ($382 - $88) discount = $294

Comparable 10 Day Adult MYW with park Hopper $254 but expire after 14 days. Add $155 for non-expiring.
Comparable 10 Day Child MYW with Park Hopper $219 but expire after 14 days. Add $155 for non-expiring.


PREMIUM
Adult Premium AP with DVC ($559 - $125) discount = $434
Child Premium AP with DVC ($493 - $111) discount = $382

Comparable 10 Day Premium MYW Adult $449 (all the options)
Comparable 10 Day Premium MYW Child $416 (all the options)

Yes, that's true. But the difference is pretty small, around $20 if I recall correctly.
