Annual Pass Prices Increasing AGAIN???

How does the renewal work? I bought an AP in June 2018 and activated it in November. My thinking was I would just get a new AP every other year because it was cheaper than the renewal and I could start it on whatever day I wanted. If I were to renew, do I get a new voucher and I'd be able to activate it whenever?

A renewal retains the same date as the original.

I think I’m on my 5th new AP, and I’ve never renewed as I always take a 6+ month break between passes.

AP renewals get a 15% discount and your expiration date remains the same.

For crying out loud Disney--take a breath. The last thing you need is to have another price increase. There is enough negativity going around already. What would this be ...the Fifth increase in the last 24 months????

So I saw on an Annual Passholder Facebook group this morning that when this person called in to renew their Annual Pass they were told by the cast member on the phone that they were lucky to be renewing now because the prices will be increasing AGAIN when Rise of the Resistance opens in December. The post was deleted from the Passholder group so I thought I would bring it up here. I really have a hard time time believing they would have the guts to raise the price again, especially with how attendance numbers have been lately, but what are y'alls thoughts? Has anyone else heard anything like this?

There's no such thing as a "price drop" when it comes to APs.

AP prices will go up, definitely. But, I don't see them doing another increase in the next month or so, which is what the CM implied. I've heard CMs say things that create a sense of urgency in booking or purchasing something and it's likely due to the quotas they have to fill.

You are able to buy an annual pass now. You have 3 years until you have to activate it. Pay now priced and use it later.

You have much longer to activate than 3 years. MDE says 12/31/2030 but it is often stated that Disney says that is a place holder that it actually can be activated at any time after too. The only stipulation I know of is that the new vouchers (updated in the past year or so, I think) explicitly state it is only good for the parks and experiences that were open date of purchase for the voucher

Thanks for the info! It definitely does not pay for me to renew then. I will stick with the new AP every other year theory then!

We are getting ready to buy annual passes, in the next few months, for our 3 trips next year, so this make the timing of the purchase a bit shaky. We were actually hoping to hold out for a price drop but an price increase changes our calculus. Decisions, decisions.

We’re in the same boat and I was also waiting for a deal on AP. If we all stick together we can boycott DW and not go.

We should start a post... Do you have the willpower to boycott DW?

Don't hold your breath for that price drop. That would be incredibly wishful thinking.
