Just spoke to someone on Disney chat. I wanted to confirm that we had to wait to order our bands in January to get the 2016 slider. We activated in November, but all of our trips for the remainder of the pass will be in 2016, so I figured we would wait even if it meant not having it for our trip January 2nd. He told me even if we waited since we purchased in October we would receive the 2015 slider even if we waited until feburary, march, etc. Can anyone confirm this?? That doesn't seem right..

This isn't really an answer so I'm hesitant to post, but since no other advice has been given, here's my two cents: the chat agent probably doesn't know what he or she is talking about, as he/she isn't specifically trained on magic bands. When I had an issue with my magic bands not being delivered, I had to speak to someone in Disney IT (go figure). I highly suspect the magic band production is automated and robotic driven enough that no one is checking your activation date against the shipping date. If you want a 2016 slider, order magic bands in 2016. If you want 2015 sliders, order now. If you don't get what you want, call the number in the shipping email (which will oddly direct you to Disney IT), be as nice as possible explaining your conundrum, and hope for pixie dust.

If all else fails, hang out on these boards in 2016 and ask if anyone might be interested in parting with their 2016 AP sliders. I have no idea where my 2014 slider is and if it would make someone happy to have 2015 sliders (quantity: 2), feel free to PM me as I would gladly pixie dust you.

Hope you get what you are looking for @toni nicole and maybe a couple better answers! pixiedust:

You will get the sliders that are current on the date you order the bands. If it's important to you, I would wait past January, as it takes them some time to switch over to a new year. By mid-February or so, it should be fine.

Keep in mind that most of the phone agents have never even been to WDW. Does this guy think Disney keeps a stash of old sliders sitting around? :rotfl:

I think you got someone very confused. Last year when we activated our two months later I noticed it MDE. We were going to go back in April of 2015 but couldn't go due to DH being in the hospital. We used it this past September and next week (we ordered new ones back a day after they came out with the new ones ) Will activated them Dec 11th of this year. Then wait until new bands comes in with the new sliders & discount card :)

Our last slider was from 2014 and we never got the 2015 or 2016 sliders. We just renewed our AP at the middle of November though.
Also, the discount card from 2015 is still sufficient with ID, but then so is our new gold pass with an ID. :)

I wouldn't worry about it because as long as you can provide either the discount card or the actual annual pass, you will get the discount.

The really funny thing is that the Magic Bands were designed to take away the need for passes, tickets etc...but you still need any/all of the above to get the discount. Scanning your MB won't get you a discount. And to get past the parking attendent you need your AP and sometimes DL.
So why bother with the MB anyway when you have to bring the card/pass/ID in order to park and get discounts.

I find this to be he most frustrating thing about the system because it seems to be so opposite the point of it all - the amount of times I am still pulling out my AP/DVC cards is annoying! Surely there is a way to provide proof that we really have those things and really are those pictures - maybe with the photo system they use at DL for multi day passes even. (Knowing about the DL system actually makes it harder for me to accept that they don't do anything - we know what they are capable of!!)

I was just talking with a friend about this a few weeks ago! Having parking included with my seasonal is nice, but a pain that I have to remember to bring the card (for discounts too). It would be nice if they would somehow attach that to the band and also allow you to take the saved CC info on MDE and have charging privileges attached to the AP, without having to stay onsite.

When we stayed offsite in September, I had my band scanned (or they just waved me by a couple of the days) when I entered the parking lot.

My AP Bands just arrived Thursday, it had a 2015 slider in it. I was originally going to hold off until next year to get the 2016 + cross my fingers a purple option might appear but I really wanted the 2015 slider since it's our first year with AP.

My son got the new AP and the discount card wasn't included. He did get the 2015 slider in October.

When we were doing the visits for the wine glass at c the F&W, the cm said none of the new passes came with a discount card anymore.

I updated to an AP on our trip in Nov. They didn't give me anything. When I was buying something the CM told me to show the AP to her on the MDE app to get the discount. Everywhere I asked for the discount accepted that (and didn't ask for ID).

Sometime the sliders is in the bottom of the box. I almost threw mine away but I heard something sliding around in the box. Check your box carefully for the slider.

Someone last week had a royal blue slider on their band that said Passholder 20... but I couldn't read the year without being totally obvious. Was 2014 blue?

Our AP's expired on Nov 30th so we renewed our AP's a few weeks ago and the option to customize and ship the AP MB's appeared in our MDE accounts soon after. We customized the bands and had them shipped to us already. The slider is the green 2015 one. I don't know if we would have received the 2016 slider if we had waited to have them shipped until January.

This is my first time getting bands but it wasn't the white incredibles box you get with resort or what i've seen people post pictures of before. Now it's an insert you have to pull out to remove the bands and you hear the sliders moving around when you do that. Under it is a booklet about the bands. I'll post pictures tomorrow if anyone cares

That's exactly how my son's came.

I've never received a slider and m on my third year of annual, passes. I even checked my old boxes cause I still have them. Nothing.
